1995 Bayliner Capri 1800LS bimini suggestions

Those may or may not work with a new bimini, depending on what size you get. I personally won't use the nylon brackets anymore after on broke while I was trailering (with the bimini folded and lowered, or course). I almost lost the entire bimini. The stainless steel brackets are much stronger...

    Floor Joint Design?

Are your joints going to be above a stringer/bulkhead or will they be floating? If the joint is not supported by structure below, at the very least, I'd have a plywood cleat that runs below the seam to which both decking boards are screwed. I'd want the cleat to overlap the seam on both sides...

Does ACR exist to charge start battery bank only if the volts drop below 12.45?

What are you talking about? Only 19 people out of 740 on Amazon rated it below 4 stars. That means 97.4% of the people who rated it gave it four stars or above. The average is 4.8 out of 5. It doesn’t get much better than that… And what is the big deal about using it for a power supply? I...

Stringer rot and Partial floor replacement

I am curious why you think you cannot split the cap and the hull. Is there not a rub rail that runs around the perimeter of the boat?

Help! 1976 Mark Twain restore it or junk it?!?

Also, while epoxy would work fine, keep in mind that this boat almost certainly was build with polyester resin. If you use polyester, it will be significantly less expensive than epoxy. Poly is a bit stinkier, but it would be a perfectly acceptable choice. My costs for poly resin, cloth/mat...

Does ACR exist to charge start battery bank only if the volts drop below 12.45?

Cut and paste this into an Amazon search box: NOCO Genius GEN5X2, 2-Bank, 10-Amp (5-Amp Per Bank) Fully-Automatic Smart Marine Charger, 12V Onboard Battery Charger, Battery Maintainer And Battery Desulfator With Temperature Compensation $129 for a two bank charger. A one bank charger is less.

Any way to remove Hotjar "Feedback" box from screen?

Sorry, I should have included this in the first post. It's the orange rectangle at the far right of the image.

Any way to remove Hotjar "Feedback" box from screen?

Is there any way to remove that annoying Hotjar Feeback box from the righthand side of the every single screen? It frequently gets in the way (e.g., it covers the arrow to advance photos when scrolling through multiple photos in full scree mode) and it makes absolutely no sense to have it in a...

Looks like a full gut-and-restore for sure.

Help! 1976 Mark Twain restore it or junk it?!?

If you're going to restore it, make sure it's a boat you really love and that fits your needs. Restoring a boat is really rewarding and you can wind up with a really well-built boat that will last a long time. However, restoring is a ton of work, much of it unpleasant (like grinding fiberglass...

using pneumatic brake bleeder for oil?

I've used one of those to suck differential fluid out of my truck, but never for motor oil. It was not horribly speedy, and I only needed to extract a bit less than two quarts. For a boat engine, between the small capacity of the reservoir on the extractor, and the distance the oil would have...

    Mercruiser starter

@trikeman72 , you're responding to a topic from 2017, so I think they probably have worked it out by now. @Claytonpa , wecome to iboats! It is not only against forum rules to reply to old threads, but you're also hijacking someone else's thread. Best to start your own topic fresh and let...

    Deck carpet layout

When I removed my glued-in carpet, the seam was at the junction of the deck and the gunwale.

    Boat refueling

I thought having a blower on while refueling was a big no-no... You run the risk of drawing heavier-than-air fuel vapors into the bilge. For me, no electricity at all is the rule for refueling. No blowers, no electric fuel pumps, nothing.

Towing 20 hours from FL to TX

Visit the scales. Likely you have more than you think. Also, the payload (weight of everything in the tow vehicle, incl. passengers, plus trailer tongue weight) is usually exceeded before the towing capacity is.

    Deck carpet layout

I think by ‘stitch’ they mean ’where should the seams between pieces of carpet be located’.

    Boat refueling

We refuel from jerry cans all the time at our cabin (no gas dock on the lake there). The best thing I've found is a Jiggler; it's a hose with a device on the end that allows you to quickly and easily start a siphon that empties your gas can fairly quickly. You can find Jiggler-like devices at...
