Re-re installing alpha one, what can I re-use?

Thanks. I never used a torque wrench on the old VP SX A I had. Just thought i’d do this one by the book. Anything else that causes them to pop out I can avoid?

Re-re installing alpha one, what can I re-use?

So my first install attempt ended with the paper bell housing gasket pushed out on the one side. Removed drive and preparing to re-install. I think extra grease from water passage o-ring forced it out along with over torque from a crappy torque wrench. Question is given none of the o-rings...

New canvas bow cover rolling at edges, solutions?

Thanks all for the replies. It was a new cover, without snaps. I installed snaps to match the existing snaps on the boat. I’ve been able to force the canvas down and after some rain and dry cycle it seems to be flatter now.

New canvas bow cover rolling at edges, solutions?

Canvas. Maybe sunbrella? Came with the boat but old owner never installed.

New canvas bow cover rolling at edges, solutions?

Hey all. Just got a new bower cover for my bowrider and the front lip of the cover, just passed the snaps, like to roll up :\ I am not a huge fan of this because it won't let water roll off. Any one faced this? Any creative solutions to getting the edge to lay flat?

    AlphaOne Gen2 large gasket install

Thanks all for your input. I am curious in which direction the drive applies pressure to seal the housing; forward against the aluminum ring or outward against the walls of the bell housing?

    AlphaOne Gen2 large gasket install

Getting ready to install my outdrive and have been reading up on glueing in the large round gasket that seals off the bellows. The manual doesn’t mention where the adhesive should go. Do I put it on the “front” face of the gasket facing the bellows or around the sides of the gasket or both? Not...

First time patching gelcoat, couple questions

I didn’t think it was that deep, so I just filled it with resin. Maybe a mistake?

First time patching gelcoat, couple questions

So my seadoo with fibreglass hull had a quarter size chuck out of the gelcoat around the intake. Previous owner had tried to rtv the chip back into place. Anyway decided to take a crack at patching it with new gelcoat, first time, upside down, on my back, across curved surface. Anyway. It’s...

New (2020) Alpha One Gen 2 wont come off

Great information thank you. With my old boat, VP 5.0 GL-H I knew all the ins and outs. First winterization with a new boat, MPI and a Merc so it's been a ride :)

New (2020) Alpha One Gen 2 wont come off

Thanks all. I will definitely be checking alignment in the spring before I re-install the outdrive. I realized the brown grease/dirt ring is actually around the coupler o-ring not the gimbal o-rings so I doubt the bellows are leaky, that and they are also only 3 years old. I will also check the...

New (2020) Alpha One Gen 2 wont come off

well, 2x4 worked like a charm. Don't see any signs of rust (I think) and the gimbal is silky smooth. There was a tiny puddle of gear lube (I think) in the bellows (pictured) but maybe that came from disassembly as the tank connector was dripping? There was also a little red/brown ring on the...

New (2020) Alpha One Gen 2 wont come off

This is my concern at this point. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. Thanks!

New (2020) Alpha One Gen 2 wont come off

Boat is in forward gear, trim rams removed, speedo tube remove, 6 bolts removed. Dang thing won't budge. Any ideas why a newer drive would be stuck? What are my options, just the 2x4 trick?

What is this thing on my Alpha One where a nut should be?

The outside of the lock spins freely so you can’t use grips or ram a socket over it. You have to turn the centre piece. As far as I can tell you’d have to cut off the outside piece to use grips or ram a socket over whats left.

What is this thing on my Alpha One where a nut should be?

Yet another update. This is not for illegal purposes and I intend to only share this information to help those who cannot get their own drive off. I received the wrong keys from McGard but have found that if you grind off all the "teeth" inside of the key except for one you create a sort of...

How does the raw water cooling system on the 4.5L dump water when the tstat is closed?

Great info. So when the tstat opens it just dumps the heated water from the block down the n-path as well then? I am curious about the design of the crossover, for instance the blue drain plug does that connect to a passage that is open to the block or the manifolds. Any ideas?

Oil dipstick question for 4.5 owners, which way around?

Great find. Thank you for this and thanks all for the input.

How does the raw water cooling system on the 4.5L dump water when the tstat is closed?

That diagram is amazing. Where did that come from? Service manual? I am still not seeing where the water exits when tstat is closed :) The "n" path would only be activated when the tstat is open. Unless you're talking about the top pair of hoses on the poppet assembly "p"?

How does the raw water cooling system on the 4.5L dump water when the tstat is closed?

I've been trying to understand the cooling system on my new-to-me 4.5L. Instead of a traditional thermostat housing that has 4 hose returns to both the elbows (when tstat closed) and to both manifolds (when tstat open) the 4.5L has a "crossover" assembly that houses the tstat and only has...
