    broken bolt on gear case

    Hi Guys,I have a broken bolt on my gear case.I just changed the impeller and now I have to get a new bolt.I got the broken one out,thank god.Does anyone know if this is a standard bolt or a special bolt.Stainless steel or what ??Can anyone answer this ? Thanks

    Alarm coming from remote control

    Today I was out in my boat and about one hour into the trip on alarm went off from the remote control.Does anyone know what this could be.The motor is a 40 hp with vro thats been disconnected. At least I thought it was all disconnected.Is this the vro alarm???

    Removing the VRO

    I have a 1985 Evinrude 40 HP with VRO.The VRO is disconnected and my question is. Can I remove the VRO unit and replace it with a fuel pump for that year motor? The fuel pump on the VRO works but I was wondering if this could be done.

    pulling a plug wire off and dying out

    I have a 40 hp and need help.When I pulled the bottom plug wire off with the motor running it ran.But when I pulled the top one off the motor died.Whats that mean ??? What would make it do this.

    VRO and fuel pump

    Is the fuel pump part of the VRO system in 40 hp 1985 evinrude # E40ELCOB. The motor runs a little ruff and the top speed doesn't seem right.The motor is on a 16 aluminum side console and the boat only goes about 16 mph.I would think it should move a little faster than that.Compression is good...

    Outboard up or down when traveling

    Can anyone tell me how they have there outboard motor when traveling.Do you tilt it up or do you keep it down on long trips.I would think that when it's down there is less pressure on the transom.Let me know what you guys think
