    ignition problem??

Thank you. It sure seems like that wire is much to small for a 20A fuse, but I guess not if it shows the need for it in the parts diagram. I will leave it in there. Actually, now that I think about it a little, if the wire was too small, the wire probably would be damaged instead of the fuse...

    ignition problem??

You are correct. I do not remember hooking the batteries backwards, but the fuse under the motor hood was blown. Took me a long , long time to find that fuse. It ended up being one of the round glass fuses and is a 20 Amp fuse. I put a new 20 A fuse in and it crank good and everything else...

    ignition problem??

I have a 70 HP Nissan, 1991 model NS70A2E. I had two batteries on board with a two battery switch so I could run #1, #2 or both batteries. I changed batteries today, afterwards, I could not get any electric to the motor!! I have lights, radio, pumps, horn, etc. No electric coming from...

    Help with my electrical system!!

I had my boat running real good but had two bad batteries in it, so I decided to change batteries. I took all of the wires off of the batteries (had a lot of wires on both batteries from fish finders, bilge pumps, lights, radio etc.) and I had a switch in line to go to battery #1, #2 or both...

    Primer Bulb

I have been holding it upward when trying to get it going, but thank you for the suggestion.

    Primer Bulb

OK I will re-route the fuel line and put the primer ball in line AFTER the water separator. I see now that it is 'pushing' the fuel into the separator rather than 'sucking' the fuel out of the separator. however, the separator is full of fuel at the time. Thanks! Note: I...

    Primer Bulb

OK. I just did as you suggested. I put a short hose on each end of the prime ball and it pumped water out of a small pail. I have the ball connected in my boat three feet from the gas tank. Then it goes another three feet to the water separator. Then out of the separator to the motor which...

    Primer Bulb

Glad that wout when I squeeze the ball with no resistance on the discharge end, there is no suction at all on the suction end. Seems like the ball needs my finger (or maybe the gas line connector) on the discharge end to get suction going.

    Primer Bulb

I will definitely do this tomorrow. Just put a short piece of hose on both ends, put the suction end hose in the water and the ball should discharge the water from the discharge end without me even putting a finger on the discharge end ? When I took this primer ball out of the package, I...

    Primer Bulb

Yes, I connected it the correct way. As I said, when I took it out of the package, I squeezed it and felt NO SUCTION. Once it put my finger over the discharge side of the primer ball when I squeezed the ball, the suction end had suction. If I did not cover the discharge end with my finger, it...

    Primer Bulb

I have a serious question about the gas line primer bulb on my boat. I replaced the fuel lines going from my under the floor gas tank, to the water seperator then to the motor itself. the lines are full of air and I pumped and pumped and pumped the ball and I am not getting any fuel into the...

Problem solved. Did not get any replies, so I figured nobody knew the answer. I got it running good the way I did it.

    Gas line size

I have a 1991 Nissan 70 H.P. motor. It has a 5/16" I.D. gas line coming from my water seperator to the motor. I have to replace the primer bulb. I have three brand new primer bulbs in my garage, but they are for a 1/4" gas line. I was just wondering if I can get a reduced splicer and put a...

    83 Johnson 9.9 slipping

Could be a stripped hub on the prop. You can check this by scribing a mark on the hub then check it after going out on the lake to see if the mark is exactly where you put it or did it move? If it move, try a different prop.

Possibly ran without oil. What to check?

As for knowing if there is oil in the gas or not, you can pour some gas thru a paper coffe filter and see if it stained with oil or not when the gas drains thru it and it is empty.

Johnson 50 hp 1996 ran well then died.

Revisit your carb clean out. Don't use the cheaper Japanese parts. Use original equipment parts. (I'm talking thru experience here with the cheap parts).

    Shakes at low speed

Unbalanced prop or bent prop shaft I would say. Is the prop chewed up or has a big chhung out of it? It really does not take much to get the prop off balance. At higher speeds, you may not feel the prop is unbalanced at all.
