1989 Force (Game King) 15hp rebirth

When I replaced the impeller last weekend I noticed a nasty bend in the skeg I wasn't aware of. I worked on it about an hour today, but still not where I'd like it to be. At least now it's looking more like a bean than a banana :(

1989 Force (Game King) 15hp rebirth

This week I got everything cleaned up to rebuild the fuel pump and carb. All the parts including new filter and lines arrived Thursday and Friday, so I was able to get them together and installed today.

1989 Force (Game King) 15hp rebirth

I started working on a 15 hp Game King I picked up last fall. It's still way too cold here to play in water, so Saturday morning I pulled it in the garage and let the gear case oil drain while I was at work. Pressure tested and replaced the oil when I got home then thought I'd see if I could...

Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

The ones I used for competition were replicas, but I do own one of the first 13k produced of the real thing. We shot it at one of the meets for fun with ammo made to the period (black powder in the 44-40 cases) Here's some of my 1800's collection:

Put the gear case back on this afternoon. Missed the hole for the shift lever my first try, but got it the second time lol I hadn't realized until I slipped the prop on last night that about 1-1/2 - 2" of the skeg is missing causing the blades to stick out unprotected. I did some research today...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Decided Monday that the gantry needed a trolley to be more functional. I drew one up, ordered 4 flange bearings (each has a load rating of 4700 lbs) and 2 pieces of cold roll steel. Stopped at Menards and picked up some grade 8 nuts bolts and washers, steel tubing (for spacers) and paint. I...

1977 Sylvan Sea Monster Side Console Rebuild

Instead of working on the outboard this weekend I decided to make lifting it safer. After using my engine hoist to take it off the stand last weekend to widen the stand, I found it was now impossible to safely use the hoist anymore. To put is back on the stand I had to set the stand on the hoist...

    40EL75 Rebirth

I am thoroughly impressed. My prop just arrived back from PropMD repaired, balanced and repainted. It's so shiny I can't get a photo without a reflection. Looks as good or better than new.

    40EL75 Rebirth

Accomplished a lot more today than I thought I might in the 3 hour window I had. I realized a few days ago that the stand I made according to the plans provided here would not allow for running the motor in a 55 gal drum. Before work this morning I cut new cross members for it 8" wider to...

    Control cable length question

The old cable set for my Sylvan 15ft side console (starboard side controls) had an 11ft cable to the shifter, which seemed ok, but only a 10ft to the throttle (sounds reversed to me) which seemed a bit of a stretch. I'm thinking of staying with 11ft for shifter, but considering jumping to a...

    40EL75 Rebirth

Took a better look at my prop and decided it needs more than I'd feel comfortable doing. Contacted a nearby prop shop and they won't work on one that old. Waiting to hear back from Prop MD in Minnesota.

Evinrude 5602 5hp Angler Detent Spring

That's interesting. The change must have been in 1966 then. Mine must have been an early 1966 publication. Although mine is a 1966 catalog, the copyright on it is 1965.

Evinrude 5602 5hp Angler Detent Spring

I've been using my old 5hp Angler with some missing pieces and decided to try locating them to put it all back correctly. The complete detent assembly was missing when I bought it but it's small enough I've been steering it with my hand on the hood and fingers holding the throttle lever. I...

Two coats of Por-15 on the float. Now I just have to wait 4 days for a full cure before putting the carb back together.

Is there enough clearance to get one of these in there? I've used this type for years with good success:

    40EL75 Rebirth

Hopefully, this will keep me from ordering wrong parts in the future: Do you guys recommend pulling the intake manifold assembly apart while the carb is out? (more gaskets to buy) Or is it usually not necessary?
