Volvo Penta 2003 SX Drive Oil?

I have also had good results with the Amsoil marine gear oil.

    Fuel pump whine

I go ahead and buy one of those cheaper $200 replacement pumps off Amazon or Ebay and use it for the season and plan on rebuilding the original during the off season or when you have more time.

    After market fuel pumps

I`ve read of good results with $200 amazon/ebay replacements.

conversion to electronic ignition for Volvo penta-5.7 GXI-J

It has a rotor but no points. If so, it is not a GXI-J as they were produced around 2007-2008.

Engine Size for 26 foot boat

I`ve got the same size boat and engine with a DP drive. I have no problem getting on plane, actually does very well. Not the fastest boat on the lake, tops out in the upper 40`s but on my lake you seldom get the chance to run WOT for very long, too rough. It is good on gas which is nice compared...

How to Keep my Outdrive Looking Good

Not really much that you can do. I usually make it a habit of taking a boat sponge and while in the water wipe down the outdrive. Doing it weekly keeps the finish a little cleaner.

    Fuel cell project gone bad

The stripper I used peeled the paint up quickly and easily. No scraping needed. I think it was made for stripping paint from aluminum though.

    Low Oil Pressure

I know its obvious but double check the oil level. If you are a quart or two low, your oil pick up may have trouble supplying a steady flow as the boat tilts and rolls. If you do change the oil, and I suggest you do that, measure how much oil comes out and see if it was low.

    Fuel cell project gone bad

When I did mine, I put paint stripper on the inside and got the paint off that way. It worked great.

About to do my first VP SX outdrive service and have a few questions

Be sure and coat the input drive shaft splines with grease and grease the same shaft at the gimble bearing. Also slightly grease the six studs before adding the nuts so that it is easy to remove the drive next time. Tripple guard grease is your friend when it comes to servicing a drive.

fresh water flush port start up

Yes, you can run the engine if you plug your hose into the blue cap flush port. I wouldn`t run much above idle.

    New style volvo bellows

The new material is pretty durable. I haven`t experienced any negatives from it as of yet. Research must have shown that the new compound was a better choice than the old rubber.

    grease not going in gimbal

Did you spin the bearing as you pumped in the grease. Is it possible that it is full? By the pic, I would guess that your passage into the bearing are not aligned. Are you sure that the bearing even is greaseable. The newer ones are "maintenance free" and are not greaseable.

    Extended Warranty

I have never been a big fan of purchasing extended warranties. My general thought is that if something is going to break, it will break during the original warranty an if I keep my money in the bank, for you $2822, I will have that money to help cover anything that might occur after the original...

VP DPS-A- running two different pitch propellers?

So if I follow thru with this, would it be best to have the higher pitch prop in the front and lesser pitch in the rear, or vice versa?

Looking at a boat with Volvo power

Volvo`s dual prop drive can be found on both motors. However, there are different drive gear ratios for each engine.

    DPS pressure and vac testing

I do not see that hurting but I dont think it would be necessary. The oil will drain, might take a little longer being cold. You can remove one of the upper plugs to aleve the vacuum inside to make it flow quicker.
