    Omc I believe 89 year but when I look up model and serial I come up with a blank Number on transom bracket is MOD 985680 or 985880 And SER T0183125 Number on drive unit MOD 986702 And SER T0730645 Number on valve cover MOD 985689 And SER T0627247 Thanks in advance

    Yes that is what I was thinking, Laminating with wood glue and compressing should be fine correct ? Also should I make a flat pad and start from there?

    This is the location of the engine beds. Should I level this area out with glass to start with a flat pad ? My next question is should I use a 6x6 to make the beds or should I use plywood sandwiched together and stacked up ?

    Ok I removed the 3.0 engine and set an old 4.3 engine I had over in the boat just to see what it would look like... I believe the 4.3 is going to fit nicely. Now it's time to start cleaning the old oil and grease out of the bilge area to get ready to start making the engine beds ...

    I ended up lightly sanding and cleaning the area where the gasket sets and that took care.. I actually think what was going on was when the 2 halfs went back together I was getting a little oil out of the nipple onto the gasket face and that would've the gasket push out in that area

    The way I would do it is on the water set it to 1 1/4 turns out start the boat (the boat will start where ever you set the idle mixture to it just may not idle very good) Set the idling as low as you can and still keep the boat running. start backing out on the idle mixture a little at a time...

    I would say if you haven't touched the low speed idle jet then count the turns in and put it back where it is and then adjust from there.. the recommended setting is just a starting point to get it running
