50 hp Force outboard owners... could you post a pic?

I was hoping that someone could post a pic of their throttle cam in relation to the adjusting screw. I've adjusted it to ine up with the mark on the cam like the manual says, but when I reattach the throttle linkage, the lines no longer line up. IS there a sceret?

I need the gasket that goes an the lower unit fill plug and vent plugs on my 1988 Force 50hp outboard. Preferrably a place that won't charge me $5 shipping for $1 in parts.

What are these wire suppossed to connect to?

These wires are from the wiring harness of my 1988 Force 50 horse outboard. I'm replacing the floor and the dash so I had to disconnect them. They went to what I believe was a junction block, but all the wires coming from that were cut off on the end. One is red with waht appers to be a blue...

Engine burning TOO MUCH oil or water in the gas?

I went out to start the boat today with the lower in a large tub of water and noticed the motor ( 50hp Force outboard ) was smoking more than it did the last time- alot more. I noticed that I had left the vent open on the gas tank. Could this have caused the excessive smoking? The plugs don't...

    Question about tongue couplers...

I wanted to replace my coupler on my trailer beacuse it works like a piece of ***. I bought a new Reese one for 2" trailer balls from Wal-Mart. Now for my "rookie knowledge" to shine through- does it go INSIDE the trailer tube or ON TOP of the tube? The one that is on it now is inside but they...

Best way to seal holes/gaps in an aluminum hull?

Went to take my 1967 Starcraft aluminum hull boat out today and noticed water coming in from the rear transom area. When I got it home, I noticed some holes in the transom where it looks like some rivets are missing. What's the best way to fill/seal them? Also, I'd like to seal the seam that...

What effect would cutting 18" off trailer tounge have?

Would it make the trailer easier to manuever? I went to launch my boat today and the damn thing kept turning very sharply even with relatively small changes in the steering wheel. Fron the hitch to the beginning of the "v" in the trailer is about four feet.

    How to remove throttle shaft?

Can someone tell me hoe to remove the throttle shaft from the engine side of my 1988 Force 50 hp outboard? I noticed that the line on the roller and the throttle "plate" don't line up like they're supposed to per the Clymer manual and it states to take the throttle shaft off the engine side to...

WATER PUMP IS IN AND WORKING... but I still have one more question.

When I was running the motor in a tank of water, I noticed that the bolt closest to the stern on the right side that holds on the lower unit seems to leak water. Is this normal?

Need Help Bad With Water Pump Install!!!

SO I ordered a new water pump kit from Maxrules.com, part number FK1073 which by all counts should fit my motor- it's a 1988. However the damn holes in the pump housing and the lower don't even come close to lining up! I tried it without the impeller thinking it was just bulging out a bit but it...

" Trick " to seperating shifting linkage?

I have a 1988 50 hp outboard that I'm trying to do a waterpump job on. The Clymer manual says to loosen the locknut on the linkage them turn the big " adjuster nut " until the two seperate. I've tried going both ways but it doesn't work. I reach a point where it seems like the linkage is binding...

Recommendations for floor removal in a 1967 Starcraft?

Any tips would be great to help with the old floor removal. Those wide strips on the side that run from the gunwales to the floor are screwed to the floor, but how else are they attached? I see screws on the top but when they're removed the sides still won't come out. Also it appears the old...

    Question about water pump replacement...

I need to change the waterpump in my 1984 Force 50hp outboard but I have one question. Do I need to put anything between the lower unit and the top half when I reassemble them? I read the Clymer manual and it makes no mention of anything. Would RTV black be a good choice?

Installing bunks on a roller trailer..

IS there any special way/location when it comes to installing bunks on a trailer that didn't originally have them? The current set-up I have is two set of rollers on the very back of the trailer- one on the left side and one on the right- and one small set of rollers about halfway up the trailer...

Prop doesn't engage when put in gear??

I have a 1984 Force 50 hp outboard Model 508V8C that I noticed today when the engine is running and I put the controls from nuetral to forward, the prop doesn't spin. I shut it off and checked the prop when it's in neutral and it spins freely. When put in gear with the motor off, I can't turn...

So, does anyone run their trailer WITHOUT fenders??

As some of you may know from my other posts, I've had a had time finding new hubs for my trailer that fit right. Finally, I ordered some new ones and rims/tires and the hub fit perfect! I go to mount the wheel and guess what- it hits the front edge of the fender!! SO I'm contemplating removing...

Wlii no gear lube cause the waterpump not to work?

I was wondering this because I tried out a Force 50 hp, outboard a while ago and didn't see any water coming out of the pee holes so I figured the pump was shot. About a week later I checked the gear oil level in the lower unit and none came out of the fil/drain hole when I removed the plug...
