Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

Another thing that I just thought of is that there are quite a few circuit breakers up at the helm under the instrument cluster. I should check those to see if there is anything of significance.

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

No I cleaned the starboard side. I did quite a few things in short order, so it is hard to say what may be contributing to it. Battery upgrade New Alternator Cleaning Electrical box

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

Here is the area of the wiring diagram for the MPR. . The power feeds end up over on the other side of the diagram at the connectors to the PCM. . Based on the PCM Manaual, I beleive that power is on connector A (58) pin A2 and Connector 3 (56) Pin A4. Here is the detail from the PCM 112...

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

My boat has 340 hours. Starter batteries (2) are new. The Starboard alternator stopped charging properly when I test ran the engines this year. It was replaced a few days ago as per my write-up. Each engine has its own battery & switch. It is a Mercruiser 'faux pas' to run the engines on...

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

#1 - Yes, voltage warning on the starboard engine . . . sort of got it fixed after a while. #2 All over the place. Everything VesselView and Diacom are coming from the PCM. I have taken other readings with my DVM. The voltages are there, it is just that the PCM isn't seeing some of them...

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

BTW - I pulled and re-connected all of the connectors on the PCM 112, the Smartcraft junction box at the helm, and another PCM looking thingy at the helm. No difference.

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

Thanks, AD . . . There were a bunch of wires connected to the starboard isolation post . . . one of them was a bit 'sparky' when I re-connected it after cleaning the connections. I'll get the DVM and start poking around, both with ignition off and on. I'm coming in close behind you on not...

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

. . . the hits just keep on coming . . . I've been doing a bunch of work on my boat and engines . . . mostly of the electrical nature. Anyway, I am getting low voltage warnings on the starboard engine. Once the engine starts the warning goes away and the VesselVeiw says "OK". I then noticed...

    Bravo 3 seacore - U joint replacement?

IIRC - there are standard u-joints and heavy duty versions. The difference being the bearing spindle. If you get the Mercury branded ones, it will be top-dollar. If you can find the correct aftermarket type, it will be about half the $$. All the new bearings are non-grease-able type . . ...

    Bravo 3 seacore - U joint replacement?

You'll need a large 'C' clamp to press the bearings out (after you remove the retaining clips). . . . (there is a tool to that too!) I got my outdrives off right now for some repair & maintenance. . . Here is my thread about fixing a previous set of Bravo 3's . . . Page 3 has a little bit on...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

On another note . . . I was able to clean up that starboard electrical box using some harsh chemicals . . . . . The floor is pretty well cleaned up, but I need to figure out something to clean up the walls. I was able to clean up the starboard isolation post and put it all back together. ...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Charging of the LFP batteries does not go through the AgroFET. The LFP batteries are connected directly to the Orion. The ArgoFET is on the lead-acid side. The best that I'm seeing out of the solar panel is 62 watts . . . mid-day full sun . . . So, that yields about 4.5 amps of charging to...

The new alternator works . . . it even likes the DC-DC charger. :D

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

Quick Update . . . OMG . . . it's working !!! I ran the starboard engine for a while . . . normal voltages at idle and fast idle. It even likes the DC-DC charger. (y) On to fixing the outdrives . . .

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

I went all out and spent $105 on the alternator ( + tax). It is an Arrowhead Electric ADR-0316, aka DB Electrical 400-12299, aka Delco 8600612 In my previous adventures getting new distributors for my other boat, I came to realize that these components, which mostly come from China, are not...

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

BTW - The rubber band (aka serpentine belt) is a Mercury 8M0088876, which looks to be a 6PK1687 or 6PK1690 generic belt. Mercury P/N sells in the $70 range, the aftermarket belts are about half that.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Yes, the solar charging essentially does the float charging, based on its capacity. It does not have enough wattage to do the other stages of charging. In other news. . . I installed the new alternator on the starboard engine yesterday . . . lots of 'fun' . . . see my write-up in the...

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

Yes, if you take the entire heat exchanger off, it would be a lot easier. . . not sure it would save any time though, vs. just unstrapping it and lifting enough out of the way.

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

I replaced the alternator on the starboard engine today . . . 6 hrs It looks like the engine was built around the alternator as it is quite buried under the heat exchanger and mounts onto the cross-over assembly. Total nightmare. . . I thought I would document a bit of the process for those...
