    Half closed loop system question

If I were me, I'd consider a full closed cooling system, if you can get one. But then you'd need the sea water pump.

    180rpm

Carbureted engine would not be a 'limp mode' thing (fuel injected only) Has the distributor moved off of its proper timing setting? Getting spark on all cylinders? You could try a compression test. Got a serial number of the engine?

    Broken Skeg Tip...Repairable?

Since you have the piece, it could be welded back on or even JB Weld it back on. I did a skeg repair with JB Weld and some chopped strand mat (CSM) and it held up nicely.

My AGM Batteries Singing Their Swan Song . . .

Thanks for the tip about Odyssey. I think I will be going the route of my LiFePO4 design and will look into the Odyssey batteries as the starter batts. I already told the Admiral to pick a couple $K off the money tree. :ROFLMAO:

My AGM Batteries Singing Their Swan Song . . .

My boat was built 8 years ago and put into service about 7 years ago. I think the AGM batteries ( 31AGM) are starting to die out. I believe that 7-8 years would be about a normal replacement cycle for AGM batteries. I think it may have been the cause of my voltage warning issues last year...

    Chap Quality Control is gone

With boats, (and other ‘toys’) is that you put a large sum of money into a it and if it does not live up to expectation, then you are stuck.

    Chap Quality Control is gone

I’ve only owned Formula and Cruisers Yacht boats. No complaints. Engine issues are a different ball game, as stated, not related to the boat itself.

    99 Monterey 276 Transom Replacement

Keep in mind that all of the wood ‘bones’ of the structure are connected and moisture travels quickly among the component.

    99 Monterey 276 Transom Replacement

Having been there and done that. . . Nip it in the bud stages. It is not all about the transom, and a delay may enlarge the scope .

    1967 9.8hp mercury flywheel

I believe it is the Mercury 11-20696 locking nut. Take a quick measurement of the crankshaft diameter at the flywheel threads may give you an indication of the thread size. It is a special locking nut, so the hardware store may not have one.

    P.S.A. . . . SAE J2807 Towing capacity spec's

In my research on trailering and tow vehicles, I came across a new standard for establishing towing capacity ratings for light trucks/SUV's, etc. SAE J2807 came into effect on/about 2015 model years.

Thinking about converting surge brakes to electric - Tri-Axle Trailer

Since my truck has the brake controller, I'd rather go EoH than merely upgrade the surge coupler. Ideally, I'd like the trailer to stop itself, not really relying on the force of the coupler pushing the vehicle. Surge brakes worked fine for my 24 footer & tandem trailer (6500 lb total load)...

Thinking about converting surge brakes to electric - Tri-Axle Trailer

I have the Class IV hitch (10,000 lbs / 1,000 lbs tongue wt), but need a WDH to get to 14,000 lbs. Since braking is infrequent vs. driving, I figure the battery on the trailer will charge during non-braking and supply any additional current needed during braking. I think the Dexter Actuator...

Thinking about converting surge brakes to electric - Tri-Axle Trailer

IDK . . . It is fairly massive. Might be the 12,500 lb. or 16,000 lb. capacity rating.
