I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

We worked out there for 6 solid hours today. Whew! Got the tarps over the top and we went underneath and got everything screwed together. Then moved the assembled unit over next to the fence. Will go back out tomorrow morning to look at next steps with the metal sides. NEED...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Been fishing more the last few days and the family stocked up on their favorites. The boy putting on his best "Jimmy Houston" act by kissing that little bass.

68 16ft Jupiter used for fishing Need a boat stretcher....

I had an aluminum box about that size in my Kingfisher. I cut it in half which will allow me to have two separate seat boxes placed apart, giving me more room to move about. And this is the layout I'll be using with the separated seat boxes in the center of the boat.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

My old buddy came over early this afternoon and we got caught up on things. He was really impressed with how the KF paint job turned out! :joyous: Then this evening I took the family over to the Gulf for some salty fishing. Good stuff! We started over at the beach but had little success...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

With all the rain we've had, the water levels are WAY up and we can't get under the bridge. So we're winging it for now. The last time we were here, the water was 40' farther out than it is now.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

After lunch and a nice nap, I got the donor over-center and onto the trailer in less than a minute! :joyous: All strapped down and ready for its final trip.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Immediately after breakfast this morning we hustled down the road to pick up my Genesis from the dealer. Driver's window now fully operational again. :) Then we hurried back home so that we could get the donor boat onto the KF trailer before the daily rains came. Almost made it too! :lol...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Not worth the cost. The donor trailer is worth about $100 in its current shape, on a good day! And the KF trailer would go for maybe $250 or so. A “good” used trailer to fit the KF would go for $800 or more around here. But ya did get me thinking and researching about it! The...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I didn't trust that old trailer one bit which is why I removed the glasser. I'd intended on putting the old boat onto the known good KF trailer for the trip to the tip. But once I got the glasser off the trailer and had a good look at the donor trailer, I began wondering if I shouldn't restore...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Thanks guys. I'll make the changes as discussed. :) I'll wait until the KF is completed with the Mercury mounted before adjusting the axle position. That way I can be sure that it's in the proper fulcrum location to achieve the correct tongue weight. As it is now, the trailer coupler ball...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Did some more photo-editing. Am thinking of having the extensions be triangles instead of squared off at the back. That will give me a little more room when loading the boat onto the trailer. As it is now, the boat definitely hits the bunks long before it could bump into the frame. If I make...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I was looking at the KF trailer this morning and I think that I need to add some additional framing farther aft in order to keep the transom tie-downs from rubbing the new paint off the stern. Wouldn't like that a bit! Since the hull is going to be drying/curing for several more weeks...

    Dad's old boat 1968 Starcraft Jupiter/ Merc 650

Yes, aluminum duct tape. And I did glue the individual blocks together with waterproof construction adhesive. The trash bags I found online by doing a search for HDPE trash bags. I used the Owens Corning Foamular in the 3/4" pink, which was all that was available at the local big box store.

    Dad's old boat 1968 Starcraft Jupiter/ Merc 650

Pool noodles have been pretty much ruled out for flotation. They just don't work very well. Here's how I did the flotation for my Kingfisher. Pink foam home insulation. The blue is where I covered the pieces with HDPE garbage bags which are gasoline proof. Folks generally use the pink or...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Hi guys! Thanks for all the kind words! And inspiration! It's been a long, tough row to hoe for me but we achieved that milestone in good spirits, thanks in no small part to all of you providing guidance, advice, suggestions, encouragement, and yes even some chastising. :p It ALL helped...
