    water leaking under carpet

Water does not usually come from below. It is more likely running from upwards of your floor and down..get it water vacuumed up and dried out and monitor where it gets wet first because it will spread and seem like a huge leak .Charlie

    1990 5.7. 260 Overcooling at idle.

you may be lacking a restrictor between the riser and manifold. Some gaskets allow for 2 areas of flow to the riser and some have all 4 open.I will bet you have all 4 open.Charlie

Alpha one not fully engaging reverse

I would start outside the boat at the bellhousing and check things like shift shoe and the shift lever .You will need the drive off to do this.see if everything is moving freely.Charlie

    Cracked block

Good luck with that!! If you are drilling holes ,the reason is so the crack does not continue further.Reason for the crack is probably freezing water inside the block or severe overheating. If you dont plan on either of these happening again then I would pass on the drilling. If you choose to...

Using hose flush to cool engine.

Water pump for sure. Not worth the risk.I once had a seller demo a Grady with 150 for me and did the same improper method with the motor.I stopped him and turned off the key immediately.Explained that it is not the correct method.Put muffs on it and ran it and it overheated on muffs.I asked him...

    Trim tab feedback

I would start at the prop. The prop you have is prob the correct prop if you didnt have all the extra weight in the stern. You need to try a larger prop to get more "dig" into the water. Also a doel fin will get the stern up as well.Personally I would try this before getting involved in trim tabs...

    Universal cover over factory cover

Great idea however a blue poly tarp is a better idea.thats what I do.A cover on a cover will not air out and dry properly.A tarp is easier, cheaper and will give you all the airflow needed. Also in winter ,snow will slide off of the tarp much easier than any cover especially if pitched...
