Engine wont shut off with key

Does it do that with the green/tan wire disconnected? Edit: ok, 1. Disconnect green wire at solenoid. Does engine start/run? If so, your problem is not with the solenoid. 2. Disconnect resistance wire at the coil, reconnect green wire. Engine should want to start but die when you let go of the...

Anyone know where to find this piece?

Actually, this might be an idea. Maybe a little metal repair epoxy would do the trick

Anyone know where to find this piece?

That's what I've been calling it. I don't think it needs to be exact, just close enough. Given how common that piece was, I'm surprised that no one makes a generic.

Multimeter tach reads RPMs too high

Like, in the neighborhood of what the dvm is reading? FWIW, I can't get a good rpm measurement using my dvm set to hz. Too sensitive I think; the hz on mine is very erratic, so it isn't getting a clean signal. Don't know if your reading is stable or not.

    A1G2 decisions. Rebuild or replace?

There was a great post a couple of months ago where someone put the alignment tool in with the driver piece floating, and used 2" or something pipe on the outside of the tool. Pipe contacted driver, and user hit the pipe with a hammer to drive the bearing. Great solution, wish I could find the...

Electrical Issues after replacing trim switch/sensor 7.4 EFI/MPI

IDK, I would have expected the starter side to be melted as well. Wondering if full fat battery power from the trim circuit found its way back to the alt. Although it still should have made it back to the 50a breaker as well I think.

    A1G2 decisions. Rebuild or replace?

That means your gimbal bearing isn't properly seated at this point most likely.

Multimeter tach reads RPMs too high

Is it supposed to be connected to the coil neg or the #1 wire? Looks like it's counting every pulse and should only be counting 1/4

Electrical Issues after replacing trim switch/sensor 7.4 EFI/MPI

Yeah that's correct. What did the wire on the other side of the fuse look like? It looks like your current came from the alt going backwards.

Anyone know where to find this piece?

Still trying to get the boat working after its misadventure getting beached/swamped during a storm. Thought this piece would be an easy to find generic, but I can only find full rib rail systems, and I'm also not sure what the piece is called.

No reverse no matter how i adjust the shift cables

Not necessarily. The slop can be from anywhere in the system. I was able to steal a bit of play by tightening up a few other clearances, esp at the shift shoe. I'm still unfortunately way out and need a lower unit swap...

    Crank, no spark. Need advice.

So the last step in that chart is to have a working ignition, you must not have followed it correctly. Putting in a new ignition will be more trouble than fixing the old.

Engine wont shut off with key

You're still supplying 12v to the coil pos with the key off.

No start after cap change and wire hacks

No, that isn't right. It will start just fine with the switch disconnected
