    Electronic Ignition and Shift Assist

You can buy a new shift assist module that works with electronic ignition from CDI. You will have to contact them to make sure. There is also a diode fix you can rig up to make your existing module work. personally, I would just stick with points

No engine alarms. Can’t find anything in service manual.

My new to me boat has two of the Garmin glass cockpit displays. I can configure any way I want. Water temp and water pressure are on it.

No engine alarms. Can’t find anything in service manual.

Actually, both of my boats(outboard and I/O) came with pressure gauges. It's a good thing to have. My outboard doesn't even have a temp gauge.

    Ease of towing larger boat

Yep...you run out of payload WAY before you hit GCVWR. I have a friend pulling a 29' travel trailer with a Jeep Grand Cherokee. His trailer weighs close to 7000# but he seems to think he can tow it safely since its at the max towing rating. I have tried to explain to him that his 1000# payload...

    Ease of towing larger boat

I agree with 95% of what you said. The reality is that boat trailers don't need anywhere close to 15% like a travel trailer does. A boat trailer is stable at between 7% and 10%. My 6500# boat has a tongue weight of a little more than 600# with no fuel measured with a Sherline scale.

    Bearing Buddies

it's not a slip on cover at all. It's an aluminum dust cap with a rubber plug that you have to engage in the center. The bearing buddy cap will not work

Bow of boat hits winch when loading onto trailer

Maybe you should watch the video you just posted. It clearly changes the direction of the handle rotation when you change gears. 2:10 on the video. Don't even need a mechanical engineer to figure this one out.

Bow of boat hits winch when loading onto trailer

All my two speed winches change direction depending on what speed you pick. Of course...doesn't matter in this thread since the OP has a single speed winch.

Volvo Penta DPS-B1 Lost gear/power when accelerating

Interesting point. BTW, Volvo's system is called EVC

    Ease of towing larger boat

The biggest problem with towing a larger boat with a 1/2T like an F-150(which is what I have) is tongue weight and payload. Using the stock receiver on my 2018 F-150, the max tongue weight without a weight distributing hitch is 500#. Since my tongue weight was over 600# I use a WDH instead of...

No engine alarms. Can’t find anything in service manual.

There isn't even a guarantee that you would detect an overheat if there was no water flow. all depends on the heat soak in that area where the sensor is. By the time the sensor got up to temp with no waterflow on it, the other parts of the engine may be way hotter.

    Bearing Buddies

You have an EZ lube axle that someone put a Bearing Buddy on. Typically you can't put Bearing Buddys on those since the Zerk would hit the backside of the Bearing Buddy piston.

No engine alarms. Can’t find anything in service manual.

The buzzer or horn isn't always installed. My 98 Volvo didn't have one. It's up to the boat manufacturer who installed the engine/drive

1 exhaust manifold hot/ the other cool

I had no issues finding parts/numbers on http://www.volvopentastore.com/ If you find a part that is discontinued, you would have an issue finding that part no matter what website you used. Out of curiosity, what parts are you finding discontinued?

1 exhaust manifold hot/ the other cool

Since your boat was made during the Volvo OMC joint venture years, you can also look at OMC. However, you will still have the issue of discontinued parts. What is your model number. Within the model number is a 2 letter code that designates what "model year" it is.

1 exhaust manifold hot/ the other cool

Its normal for one to be hotter than the other especially at idle. Was it so hot you couldn't leave your hand on it?
