Exhaust flapper fell down in the exhaust tube

Google "mechanics grabber claw tool" as those have stronger ends to pull the flapper remains out. What engine is this, as we will want to move the thread to the appropriate engine section of the forum? (Mercruiser/Alpha One)?

    Mercruiser 3.0 Ticking Sound

Greetings . . . I don't hear much of a ticking sound from the video. It would be good to use a mechanics stethoscope to further isolate the sound. Often it is a valve lifter/rocker, but not always. No need to tear into the engine at this point.

    1995 Luhrs 290 Tournament open Stringer/bulkhead recoreing

Greetings @RBMSA1 and welcome to iBoats . . . It sounds like you have a project on your hands. Yes - Pictures ( and quite a few along the way) would be helpful for responses as we will be able to 'see' what you are seeing. Restoration wisdom is that the rot usually goes a lot further than it...

    Quit My Job . . .

Just marking a milestone . . . It has been a year since I gave notice at my full-time job, finishing up July 1, 2022. Last summer was awesome and basically a few months to decompress after 45 years of the working world. Quite a few folks have left my prior organization since then, as things...

    Very strange problem with RPM

Greetings, I see that you have been a member for a while, but this is your first post. You really need to have the computer diagnostics to troubleshoot a fuel injected engine, particularly the situation that you described. Other means would just be guessing and result in randomly replacing...

    When does anode require replacement?

Badly corroded/depleted means they are working and should be replaced.

    Crownline 270CR rearside panels/covers wanted..!

Start with Crownline, but that may be a dead end, given the age of the boat. Generally, there is no market for parts like that, but maybe try some boat salvage places. You may also be able to get it repaired or re-produced at a fiberglass shop.

Water in through throttle body/loss of power

A mild hydro-lock tends to bend the connecting rods rather than stop the engine completely. BTDT. As AD said, anything is possible.

Water in through throttle body/loss of power

Yes, compression test would be good. When an engine takes a sip (or a gulp) of water the possibility of a hydro-lock needs to be considered.

    Vintage Mercury Cooling Issue

The engine works . . . at least it cools fine. . . . I brought the oars just in case and ran my 8 ft pram around from the house to the dinghy dock. Got there just in time to see a launch ramp follies/fail. With the tide cycle this week being so low, a guy was having trouble getting his...
