    First plane ride/snow !

First plane ride was 1963 (ish) Boston -> Philadelphia . . . it was a 707 going and a prop-plane coming back. I distinctly remember the food service . . . a 3-course meal delivered on a custom made serving tray . . . now-a-days you'd have to go to The Capital Grill to get comparable service

Always thinking about the 'next' boat . . .

I don't recall that there was a price posted (probably too scary). One of the boat test videos made mention that CY does not even pretend that the GLS could be a fishing boat (no rod holders). :ROFLMAO:

Always thinking about the 'next' boat . . .

I have been fairly happy with my recent boat purchase, but there is always a 'next' boat that folks (like me) have in mind. I went to the boat show in Boston, MA this past week. I think I might have found it . . . . Cruisers Yacht 34 GLS . . . . . Technically, this boat is only a foot...

    Manifold/riser condition

They look good. The most I've gotten out of a set of manifolds in salt water was about 14 years. :D

    2023 Daytona 500

I was hoping Logano would be able to pull it out for his second win. It seems (to me) like a bit of a judgement call as to when they call the yellow flag, as a second or 2 would have made a difference.

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

I'm a salt water guy. The anodes look fine to me. Deterioration means that they are working. You probably should get the Mercathode system, just for added protection. Since you have only 1 ventilation plate anode (round), it indicates that you have the older B3. Add the prop anode and call...

    Sharrow prop

There have been a few posts over the past few years on these propellers. I was a bit surprised to see that even the more optimistic test results showed that it was marginally better than a traditional prop. Yet, the cost difference is substantial. I'm sure there will be continued...

    Curious - extended warranty 2012 F150

Yes, 3.5 EcoBoost Twin Turbo IIRC, 360 (ish) HP. . . Body is clean. I figure if something major goes wrong, it might be worth just getting another one with less mileage on it. . . or get it fixed with used parts. Have you considered one of those repair insurance coverages, like 'car...

    Curious - extended warranty 2012 F150

    206K miles . . . I bought it about 2 years ago. Needs a transmission fluid change.

Mercruiser outdrive oil/liquid leak during winter

My outdrives do that too . . . yet in the water they seem fine. That is the oil line. I'm thinking there is a clamp missing on the bell housing side.

    Penta 4.3 GL in saltwater?

Post some pictures of your engine to help with ID of the cooling system that you have. I boat in salt water, it is wicked fun, and I have closed cooling. Without closed cooling your engine will last about 15, but will need exhaust manifold replacements sooner. You also have to be on your game...

What is the cat's job in all of this? :D

Twin motor question. 2 standard rotation or 1 Std & 1 rev.

Just do the counter rotating thing in (one of) the outdrives, not the engines.

    1988 Mercruser 4.3 Liter Mercruser Engine S/N B779146 Model GM 262 V-6

It is good to change all of the oils on a new-to-you boat. The outdrive oil will be fine for a few seasons, whereas the engine oil likes to be changes annually.

Wiring diagrams, parts and service manuals for boats

As for individual parts, you can try get an identifying number or label from them and source them on the Internet. A few things will be specific to the boat brand/model, but many parts are generic.

    1978 9.8 Overheating

I just went through that on my 7.5 mercury. Plastic gasket melted. It seems like once you have a good overheating of the engine the plastic gasket needs to be replaced. I also found the gaskets on the exhaust side were perforated, but the major issue was the plastic piece.

    Back for a Visit!

20 years, that's the early days of Internet forums for sure. (y) Nice to see long-time folks still here. I occasionally look at old posts and see names that don't seem to frequent the site anymore.

    Aluminum gas tank question

As stated, corrosion. It looks like there was moisture in the contact areas of the underside of the tank. Aluminum does not like long-term contact with water. As mentioned, at 30+ years of age it is ready for a new one.
