    Owner's manual says to not run the motor if and when using the garden hose flush fitting. Many are wanting to know if they can do it anyway without causing any harm to the motor. Owner's manual says not to do a lot of stuff that is successfully being done daily.

    Many run their Yamaha outboard motors at an idle RPM using just the garden hose flush fitting with nary a problem. Water flows down the water pump tube and lubricates and cools the impeller.

    When you say that the motor does not start, are you saying that it cranks normally but just does not start up? Or is the situation that it is not cranking?

    What are you seeing that is telling you that it is the low oil alarm? Is it a Yamaha tachometer?

    The illustration shows a fused wire harness between the control box and the instruments. Part number 6Y5-83553-M0. The fused harness powers and grounds all of the instruments. Of which there can be many. As well as providing the frequency signal to a tachometer.

    The red wire is within the Yamaha seven pin or ten pin main engine harness. Red wire gets battery power at the motor. Conveys power to the Yamaha key switch.

    Red is the wire color that conveys battery voltage to the key switch. With the key on, the yellow wire provides battery power to the instruments. The green wire is the tachometer signal. The black wire is the ground.

    I am seeing the exact same part number for a 2003 F75 and and 2000 F100. I have always swapped the gear case on the larger Yamaha motors with the motor in neutral. But I don't think that is your problem.

    There is no RPM limiter alarm on any Yamaha outboard motor. OP's motor alarms for either over temperature or low oil pressure. A steady horn. A beep beep beep tone will indicate for the presence of water in the water separating fuel filter but only when the motor is in neutral.
