    Some good stuff happening

I’m back. Got sick again. :puke: And I waited 5 weeks before seeing the doc. Well, at 3 weeks I saw a PA who prescribed something that didn’t help. I was effectively non-functional during that whole 5 week period. Head cold turned into chest cold; which turned into acute...

Anyone else find this at least unnerving....

Probably all those snowbirds heading back up north. Those graphics always make me laugh because they're not to scale and make everything look all crowded. The planes shown are larger than the state of Rhode Island! :D Here's a Google Earth screen snap of Tampa airport from 4500 feet...

    Some good stuff happening

And this morning my old buddy gave me one of the tool chests that he promised me. Y'all should have seen these two old geezers moving the chest from my truck into the garage! We had to stop and wheeze and cough and catch our breath even though it's a pretty small and light unit. :lol...

    Some good stuff happening

Latest info... Am still waiting for my young buddy to finish grading the dirt. Wait, wait, wait... It's almost there, but not quite. It's nearly level; just a little bit high. The area highlighted in blue needs to be bulked up. My bud thinks he can get it done without me having to buy...

    RIP Bill Paxton

He was only 61. Dang! http://www.tmz.com/2017/02/26/bill-paxton-dead-dies/ We're told Paxton underwent heart surgery and had complications post-op and suffered a fatal stroke. Bill Paxton has died ... TMZ has learned. We're told the actor died suddenly Saturday due to...

    Some good stuff happening

Well, my buddy came over and started moving the dirt this afternoon. His loader is still broken so he used his small Massey Ferguson with box blade. He got started but shortly thereafter was interrupted by other obligations and will have to complete the grading later. I may need to add...

    Some good stuff happening

So this happened today. It was the explosions that got my attention! Must have been ammo stored inside. The fire started in a neighbor's shed, immediately adjacent to the south end of my property. Had the wind been more from the south, my place would have been involved. :faint2...

    Some good stuff happening

Based on my research, a 100 amp service will be way more than sufficient for my needs, now and going forward. The pic below shows the current metered panel. The power company will only get involved if I bring power from the transformer. They simply refused to hook me up from the existing...

    Some good stuff happening

Yeah, 18" would be great! But alas, it's 25 feet from the house to the garage. And I need to deal with that slope as well. Can ya see the orange extension cord? Slope needs to be filled and graded on the left side. Tapping into the meter panel is the cheapest way to go but I'm...

And this is where I plan to bring power in from the underground cable (orange oval) and set up the main service panel (red box). The small white boxes are 2 sets of 2-gang switches. A pair for the lights and a pair for the fans. The blue box is where I'll have one of the duplex outlets.

The dashed items in the schematic won't be directly connected to the rigid metal conduit cables or outlets but will instead be daisy chained to each other. That not only saves work but money too. Sorta like these LED shop lights:

    Some good stuff happening

So this week I've done a lot of thinking (as noted above!) and figuring and calculating and whatnot. A pain. Trying to figure out what electrical requirements I have now, in addition to what may be needed in the future, is a PITB. But I came up with a preliminary load sheet, as follows...

    Some good stuff happening

Dinner was great. Back to the update! Yesterday we spent several hours cleaning out and clearing out my old shed. I had a BUNCH of old junk in there. Computer, TV, stereo and other wiring junk that I've had for 30 years. Trashed it all. Plus a bunch of construction stuff from when I got...

Send some warm weather my way

This is what it's like here now. Sucks! Just too hot. Didn't have winter here this year. Blech. I'll have to start cutting the grass next week if this keeps up!! :yell:

    Some good stuff happening

Almost lost a big chunk of my concrete funding today! A buddy sent me a link to this little Kubota L225 tractor loader with bush hog for sale for just $2k, which is dirt cheap! Made my head spin and I started trying to figure a way to wheel and deal to get it and yet keep the concrete...

    Some good stuff happening

Thanks! It's always good to make progress. What helps the stuffiness the most is having lower humidity! It was over 90% humidity this weekend with temps in the 80s. Ugh! Today it's 67 degrees with humidity in the mid-60s. Much nicer! And here's the inside of the Kingfisher right after...

Here's the completed used big unit. Not as pretty as the new one, but it'll hold cans of paint and whatnot. ;) And it already had a paper towel holder mounted on the side. Bonus!
