    Any manufacturer cannot hold all parts for all time. The failure rate of the CDI assembly is so low that it makes no sense to hold a part for which the demand is all but non-existent. Thank goodness for the innerweb where it is much easier now to find an obsolete part.

    What we have here boys is a failure to communicate. The lower unit retainer nut and washer are somewhat important. Help to hold the bearing housing, propeller shaft, propeller some other needed parts in the lower unit.

    Three switches in the main oil tank sensor assembly. If and when the bottom switch closes due to low oil it will send a ground to the CDI. In which case the alarm will sound, RPM reduction mode will be activated and if a Yamaha tachometer is installed a light or icon will illuminate.
