    7.4L Overheating

Glad you found the issue. My 7.4's had the VST pump instead of cool fuel, so I never had to mess with that part of the cooling system.

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Another cushion done . . . a boat-load more to go. 🤪 Here is one of the aft facing bases of the rear seat. . . . . I have its mirror image twin ready for final top-stitching, then installing/stapling to the backboard. I got my new presser feet, making it easier to do the...

88 mercruiser 4.3 low compression and water in oil.

We hear the "I was told . . . " story a lot. Water in the oil could be a number of things, none of them good. Head gasket is usually the one that people hope for, because it is one of the easier repairs. Usually, it is not the head gasket though . . . 10 psi on a compression test is really...

    CCM:Lever1 error. HELP PLEASE

Isn't digital technology on boats great? You get to buy all new tools (Rinda Diacom) and a new laptop so you can figure stuff out. Do you have the service manual for the engine? For now you can check all of the cable connections, both at the controls and the engines, but who knows if that...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

As a side note . . . One of my siblings really likes to go on the boat, but is not interested in any deckhand activities. (rightfully so . . . ) I sent him this shirt the other day . . . . . He loved it !!! :ROFLMAO:

Inverter with shore power - Question ???

Quick update. . . I ordered a 100 Watt marine 'kit' from Renogy. Includes flex panel, controller, wiring. Since the controller is a single output, I'll be adding the diodes in the wiring to isolate the 3 battery banks from sharing electrons.

    HULL REPAIR QUESTION

Based on what 'we' can see from the pictures, I'd say the current owner probably has run aground a few times and/or gotten towed off a few rock infested sandbars. Understood about slim pickings in the marketplace, having just gone through the buying process myself. If you do go in this...

    HULL REPAIR QUESTION

That looks bad . . . Not something you want to fuss with as a newbie. A shop would be pricey, as I'm guessing the entire bottom may need to be re-gelcoated ??? Might be more than the boat $,$$$ What next on your list of boats ?

    Raw water?

Thanks, Chris . . . I was not sure if they were 470's. A 1987 anything would be a bit of work regardless. 470's would be icing on the cake 🤪

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

I've ordered the top stitch and the zipper. (not that I an doing zippers, but they come in handy for tight corners and curved seams. . I see more pesser feet online that are of a different mounting style, so not sure if the Consew 226 is the same as these.

    Raw water?

Not a real good picture, but I don't see a heat exchanger, so the engines look to be raw water cooled.

    Used sailboat / stringers.

Smaller sailboats don't have much in terms of stringers. What sailboat might you be referring to or considering?

Since there are so many pieces (and seats), I am marking the old skins up with the seam matches and the additional alignment marks I mentioned. .

    Question about resin

I use epoxy in situations where adhesion is important. Mostly VE resin in projects and repairs. It seems to have a longer working time than poly and it tastes better. :ROFLMAO:

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Weekend Update . . . I have been making some progress on the seats, but I need to get some 'presser foot' accessories for the sewing machine. I have a lot of presser foot adapters for stitching from the right side of the machine, which is obstructed by the arm. I need a few things to sew...

    Question about resin

Poly does not readily adhere to epoxy, because of something known as 'amine blush', which a waxy by-product of epoxy that resides on the surface as it cures. Poly is plenty strong, just more brittle than epoxy. Epoxy has very good adhesion qualities . . . a bit different than strength. If you...
