MerCruiser 4.3 Fuel Problem (I think)

Greetings and welcome to iBoats . . . There are many possibilities, but a couple things come to mind that you can look into. It will be a process of elimination until you find the cause. It sounds like fuel starvation, possible causes are. . . - Fuel tank vent line may be clogged. - Check...

    Plywood floor replacement...Questions

As far as joining the floor to the side of the hull where the two meet . . . you are going to need strength more than adhesion. Else the boat's structure will be weak(er). It is best to fill any gaps in the joint with Peanut Butter, then go over the joint with a layer or 2 of 1708 bi-axial...

4.3 GL-G Squeaking Noise, Please Help

You can use a pipe or mechanics stethoscope to isolate the source of the noise. Until then it is a guessing game.

    Sewing Machines

I am not an expert on the Singer line of industrial machines, and I did not look at any when I was buying. So, you will have to do some Googling to verify the specific features of the 211G157, which I believe is what you mentioned. Critical features would be adjustable stitch length and reverse.

    Sewing Machines

Technically it is his thread, but you and he have the same question. Are you guys friends? Neighbors perhaps? The Singer 211 is a walking foot/compound feed and is one of the machines listed earlier in this thread. I see a few on eBay with motor/table for $600-$800. Decent price @ $600 IMO.

    Head gasket? Cracked head?

Nice going . . . See what the motor oil looks like. A cylinder leak test could indicate (or not) if it is a head gasket . . or even a cracked cylinder head. Otherwise a cooling system pressure test would indicate cracked block, head, or manifold. It would be best to do testing before...

    Plywood floor replacement...Questions

Don't cut corners, else you will be doing it again in a few years. Don't assume the stringers are OK until you have fully removed the floor and the foam that may be below it. Often it is best to remove the stringers. Lots of restoration threads here on iBoats that you can browse through to...

    Toilet doesn't always completely flush

I recently replaced a toilet that was not flushing properly. . . It used to flush fine, but lately always needed some help with a plunger or just holding the flush lever down. What I found when I replaced the toilet was that the bowl/base had become loose from the floor (the screws holding the...

    1999 7.4mpi cold start won't idle

Yes, that is the thing about fuel injection and the computer controlled engines. They run great until they don't. Often folks will throw $600 in parts at the engine and not get anywhere, so the computer diag. can pay for itself, if you plan on doing work on your engine. Otherwise, a repair...

    Sewing Machines

One thing you can do with a clutch motor (or even a servo motor) is 'gear reduction' by changing out the pulleys on the machine and motor. There are also add-on pulley mechanisms (aka 'Speed Reducer') to reduce the gear ratio further. I did that originally with my machine when it still had a...

    1999 7.4mpi cold start won't idle

You will probably need either the scanner or the computer diagnostics for the engine to really see what is going on. During cranking the engine control unit (MEFI) sets the injector pulse very high to provide plenty of gas. Once the engine starts the injector pulse drops down and then...

    1st Boat/First Thread/First Everything lol. Need help

+1 on the safety course and checking weather/wave/wind forecasts for your area. What I tell new boaters . . . - Boating is dangerous, it only looks like fun. - Approach a dock or landing only at the speed which you are willing to hit it.

The singer looks to be the model # 331K105, which has both top and bottom foot feed, but not a needle/compound feed. No motor or table shown in the picture though . . .
