    Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... I suppose ya could, But,..... The motor is mounted to the hull, 'n the drive is only mounted to the motor,..... If ya do it yer way, the drive could roll out the back of the hull, onto the ground,.....

    The parts was just the new pump, 'n the hyd. line that goes from the bottom of the transom housin' to the pump,.... as far as I know, the return lines are all the same now a days,....

    Ayuh,..... The wirin' for the reverse lock, got tossed with the lock,..... The wirin' is done at the pump,..... The forward wirin' is still red for power, green down, 'n blue up,..... Even the plug at the pump for the forward wirin' is the same,.....

    Ayuh,...... I disagree with the others,..... Back when I got my ole tin barge, it had the old style pump, with the reverse lock,..... I bought one of the new plastic tank pumps, 'n put it in, 'n ripped the ole plumbin', along with the reverse lock, 'n junk out,.... I ran it that way for well...

    Ayuh,.... I'm not familiar with the Ford motors, but the Chevys in our boats are direct injected into the intake manifold, 'n not the head, so the valves are still bathed in gasoline,....

    Ayuh,...... You might see this in Mercury Racing motors, but not in our standard production motors,.....

    Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... 1st thing I'd try is to loosen the rubber couplers, 'n readjust 'em for better overlap on each piece,..... If ya need a longer coupler, odds are something else is the problem,.....

    Ayuh,..... Marine, Rv, 'n truck cams typically make power from idle to 5500 rpms,...... That's exactly what ya need in a boat,..... Hot rod cams typically just move the torque band higher in the rpm range to gain horsepower, like 1500 to 6500 rpms, which is iseless in a boat,....
