    Actually, in a fast hull, I wouldn't build a stroker. But a high RPM big-bore, short stroke. Either keeping the 3.48 stock stroke, or dropping down to 3-1/4" stroke for 327 You want a stroker for torque in the big boats

    You probably have corrosion in the shaft bore and clutch case. It need to be able to go up and down on its own Have you lubricated the trunnions?

    most likely not the coil. most likely a short. since the ignition fuse fed the coil and the old choke along with the gauges and anything with a purple wire under the dash and in the bilge. What did you do with the old feed wire to the choke? how are you feeding the EFI system? the jumper...
