Wiring Fuel Pump Relay to Alternator

The excite wire to ALT is also the + side to the coil Use the Yel/Red going to the slave relay, and can use either from key or going to starter Use these to circuits to feed the oil pressure switch and no need for ALT wire unless you want to take it off that location

    Starting in hot afternoon

Watching the gauge, If you turn the key and pressure builds to 50 but falls off quickly, I would think regulator first. If it bleed off slowly I would think injector If it takes several key cycles to build pressure then I'm leaning toward failing pump, antisiphon valve, tank vent line...

Perfectly for 15 minutes then, surging, knocking, and jumping tac

It shows your issue is most likely not electrical, its fuel Best method is to put a fuel pressure gauge Tee'd in the fuel line before the carb. This is Merc 91-18078 but can make your own with rubber fuel line and fittings for temp use. Need a vacuum fuel pump tester. Should see at least 3...

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI #3 cylinder ignition miss

Being a CAT motor you should be closed cool, right? If closed cool, should never need to replace mans. If your open cool and fresh water should not need them either. Sold my 95 model this year and mans were changed. Replaced the ones on my 94 (repower needed better flow style) some years back...

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI #3 cylinder ignition miss

The bulletin posted was just to make the tool from, not for your motor. It dealt with emission motors which yours is not. The comment I was making is (not knowing what your serial number is) I don't know your complete configuration so just spitballing right now. The breaker comment was the...

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI #3 cylinder ignition miss

I would check the clocking on the Dizzy. Best method is to make the $10 tool in the bulletin Can also be caused by yellow flag circuit breaker (50 amp) but you should not have one of those Edit: don't know your serial number

    Newbie needs some help please!

Might be an illusion but think the water pump pulley is set to far in, needs to come out some. Use a straight edge and place on the circulating pump above the crank or the crank pulley to see

Fuel system fail on new boat

If you have 2 motors running off one fuel line Tee'd to the 2 motors, that doesn't work. It can work if you put valves on the fuel line to turn the motor not be used OFF

    Mercruiser ECM replacement?

If you find the screen is clogged just toss it. No need for a screen that has larger holes then the filter If you have a compressor and hand adjustable Reg. Use rubber tip and connect to base of cool fuel Reg. Adjust air pressure up slowly and it should open at 30 psi

    Mercruiser ECM replacement?

Some how I didn't get notified of the post Thursday Pumps good but can't say the same for the Reg. The pump should be capable of producing 60 psi and with the gauge going to 55 it does. The Reg should keep fuel pressure at 30 which its not doing that. It does bleed down, but it should never...

    2000 5.0 Merc

Either the vent line to the tank is clogging, or the antisiphon valve is clogging. When motor dies, remove the gas cap and listen for air to suck in. If you hear air sucking in, then its the tank vent line The antisiphon valve is on the top of the tank and has the rubber fuel line connected...

    Startmotor 3.0L bendix difference?

The new one is not retracting all the way. See if you can push the teeth in further. If not, remove the solenoid and look to see that actuating arm and spring is in the correct position.
