Mercruiser 3.0 = Chevy 181 CID = Small Block Chevy Valve Train? 1:65 Rockers?

remember, the 3.0 was designed as a fork truck motor and a generator motor as a derivative from the 153 cubic inch 4-cyliner and just so happened to make a cheap boat motor

    Crownline 2007 220ex

not really. look at all the plastic bits on the motor and used as thru-hull fittings. those only last 10-15 years. seat vinyl and foam only last about 7 years since they can no longer use arsenic as the anti-microbial the plexus joints can only flex so many times until they fail. this is...

    Optima blue top for starting?

the enersys brands of batteries are the best in the world. this includes hawker (used by the military) and odyssey used in many off-shore boats. I made the mistake of spec'ing optima batteries for 6000 pieces of equipment because the salesman guaranteed they would be equal to the Hawkers and...

    Truck 5.7 engine into boat

Ditch the TBI as any change will require reprogramming. and TBI is not very efficient or easy to get more HP. a simple carb would give you more power just by flowing more CFM

    Mercruiser 7.4 Starter Grinding/Partial Engagement?

number one cause of starter grinding is bad electrical connections. not enough juice to throw the bendix then get the starter spinning. it starts spinning and lazily moves the bendix effectively turning the starter into a mill and taking out ring gear teath.

Marine Flywheel compared to an auto flywheel

the main cause of ring gear wear is bad contacts on the electrical side of the starter. causes the starter to spin much slower, and the solenoid not to throw the bendix out fast enough so the starter becomes a mill and machines the teeth off.
