    Kicker Motor

Bad fuel, (water in gas) is the most popular issue with fuel. Had it all the time about 10 years back from all the major fuel stations. Local farmers created a co-op fuel station for all the locals. Never gave had a fuel problem since. However, those that still use the popular stations still...

    Kicker Motor

Yep, a little 2.2 hp Merc, made by Tohotso. Great little motor. Always starts on 2-3 pull, even after sitting all winter. Fast idle (1/3 throttle) gets about 2 mph for trolling, just enough rpm to eliminate any vibration.

    Kicker Motor

My little kicker runs about 8 hrs ( all day) on a gallon of gas. Plenty of places for a one gallon fuel can. Better than the added weight and expense of a new four stroke, at least for me.

    Kicker Motor

What about using a trolling motor mount that raises and lowers ? Used one for years on my 22' Islander with just a standard long shaft. When raised the entire lower unit was out of the water, flip a lever and it dropped into trolling pisition, locked into straight position, could easily steer...

    New project

Global warming must be over, around here, we are expecting the coldest air we have had in decades, near -30 degrees. We haven't saw this long of a continuous stretch of below freezing temps in two decades. We are breaking cold temps set back more than 50 years according to weather folks...

    transom mount trolling motor

They make some powerful electric trolling motors nowadays and with the addition if lifepo4 batteries, you can have lengthy running times. The only real drawback is $$$$. They are not cheap..

    90 Mercury 40HP motor

I have a 1992 version of that motor and love it. Been one of the best running motors I have ever owned. Whether your's is worth putting money into it, is your call, but ....from all that I researched before buying mine, they were great, reliable motors. Smooth idle, so slow you can hear each...

    Battery cable

I have n ever I look at a used boat and motor, I have always looked closely at the wiring, any sign of corrosion was cause for a deeper dive. Bought a few with the plan to rewire everyrhing, but usually look for ready to run stuff. My 1992 has original wiring with the exception of a few add...

    Battery cable

I have always been told that stranded wire is better, why....I did not know, but always followed that advice. Solid wire was for your home, everything else was stranded wire. Thanks for the charts, making copies for my shop wall.

    2ND TIME REPLACING TRANSOM

No cedar or redwood on my 1983, just exterior grade plywood with no sealer. Both redwood and cedar are easy to recognize. Not saying some were made out of that but my 1983 and a friends that was a few years older were just exterior plywood. How it is stored and maintained is everything !

Interesting read for a guy that is not an electrician. Will be making a copy for my shop wall, thanks ! Just one question, does it make any difference whether a solid wire or multi stranded wire ??

    2ND TIME REPLACING TRANSOM

How are as the boat stored ? That wood must have been wet slot to for out that quickly ! My Islanders had a plywood transom from 1983, no sealer of any kind. Just replaced two years ago...however garage kept or under cover all its life. UV destroys the sealers on wood, so it soaks up the...

    Random

Depends on soil type, tank size, and how many people. Our gut recommends every 5 years at least. When new, went 10 years twice, but as the system ages, we need to clean it more often.

Yessir, nice strong comfy toilet paper is not good for the septic tank, but the cheap paper that is good for the tank is not good for the bottom ! Have used those chemicals for breakdown, works great on organic waste, but not so much on TP itself. With my wife's bowel issues she probably goes...

You might be giving them an idea ! All jokes aside, my wife has bowel issues and we were going thru tons of toilet paper...having a septic tank, that speeded up the time between pump outs. At 550 bucks per pump out, a bidet was far cheaper....and yes they work quite well actually. Especially...

Is there a complete service guide?

Once you remove them, it is pretty easy to discover a bad bearing. If everyone's hubs are sealed up and packed with good grease, filling is not necessary. I used to work at a marina, often boat trailer just sat, year round as they only traveled a couple hundred yards each year from storage to...
