    2013 Etec Steering Question

It's a gen 1. You say Evinrude mechanic....there really isn't any. Evinrude is shut down. There is former mechanics and they are honoring warrantees and making parts so I guess that's what they mean. I purchased a 2009 in 2011 so there can be a discrepancy and it came with a 5 year warranty...

    1977 Johnson 140 can’t turn over

Dry motor with no lubrication? When you had it apart was the exhaust completely clear? Mud dobbers or something?

    1977 Johnson 140 can’t turn over

Sounds like your motor had more than a spruce up. With all the plugs out can you perform a compression test?

    2013 Etec Steering Question

"installed in 2021" "warrantee until 2027" "mechanic" This does not sound like a 2013 outboard. The Gen 2 had issues with their integrated steering system. I'm thinking maybe you haven't properly identified this motor.

    2013 Etec Steering Question

If it's a 2013 then it's a g1 so it's just a normal steering cable or hydraulic system. Most likely it's a stuck cable and it very common. Slide hammer, heat or whatever, it wouldn't be something that would stop me from buying a motor....just might help in negotiating a price. What's does he...

Intermittent spark on 1976 35 HP Evinrude

Electric fuel pump is not needed. Pump on the primer ball when testing and if it clears up then replace fuel pump. Fuel pump works on pulses from the crank case. No vacuum in there. (Piston skirts)

I've heard of the lower compression commercial motors....rebuilt one at 105? Id question that but thanks for educating me.

    Bad Miss

I agree, clean carb....I have 4 of these motors. You can try to backflush the carb but taking it off is better. Could be the lean sneeze that Racerone is talking about....easy to test.

Switch shuts down one side....so your answers are inconsistent with what is happening. Try a different compression gauge. Might want to inspect piston skirts. Remove exhaust covers. Compression Spark Fuel Did you check the firing order? Reading back you state "rebuilt the motor" your...

Then you have a fuel issue most likely. This assumes your coils are properly hooked up to the right firing order.

You had better re-explain. Doesn't make sense....at least to me.

Well I run champions and haven't really liked the ngk's but guys on here like them and I doubt that's your problem. Never hurts to try though....cheap test.

"low compression motor" ? End of life is coming, rest is BS. Running in a barrel or muffs you won't see much difference. If you have no spark it could be a power pack but weak spark more likely coils. You need a spark jump tester....pick up one of these cheapies and look for a "zap" of 7/16...
