    PL question

PL Premium is often used for that. The only concern, as you already know, is the time it takes to cure and off gas. As long as you don't mind waiting 4-6 days, there isn't a problem with it. Lots of restos here have used it.

    Trailer Guides ?

I have the PVC style posts, and I think they are best suited as visual guide posts, not as bumpers to help you stay aligned in cross-winds or cross-currents. If you're wanting something to help guide the boat straight onto the trailer, your much better off with those horizontal bunk-like boards...

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

That transom seal can be a bit of a pain.I think I held mine in place with a thin bead of bellows adhesive applied to the groove. Looks like you’re getting close!

Tired of carpet! Looking for something else?

Do not use roll one-part rubberized coatings like Durabak. They are trash.

20 foot 1997 Maxum 2050 bowrider propeller question

I have always been under the impression that your lowest planing speed was more a function of the hull design than of what prop you're using. Some people report being able to plane at a slightly slower speed after adding tabs; I would say my SmartTabs let me plane about 2-3 mph slower than...

Solar panels to charge or to run a Noco dual bank charger?

I think the problem is that to charge two large batteries, you'd need a pretty large solar panel (or panels); you can get small 1 to 5 watt panels, but they will just serve as trickle chargers and probably won't do much for batteries that have been discharged. If you go with larger solar...

Storing tubes at a boat slip

We don't slip our boat, but we do deflate our tubes after use. We have a little pump like the one below, and it works remarkable well. Inflates large tubes pretty quickly. I'd be concerned about the lily pad disappearing unless it could be secured somehow. Lashing it to the swimpad isn't a bad...

How often do you change your bellows and shift seal?

I wouldn't change the bellows on my Mercruiser unless they were failing. I check them every year with the drive off, and unless I see a problem, they're staying. (I'm in no hurry to do that particular job again!)

Larson 2002 sei 180 fuel sender location

I have a PDF of Larson’s ‘08 “Sport Boat Models Owner’s and Operator’s Manual” that they sent me when I was working on my boat. It had some useful information for the 97 model, so it might be even more applicable to you. if you send me a private message with your email address, I will send it to...

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

Your PB looks pretty good to me. if you’re not sure, just mix up a small batch and keep record of the proportions that you add. Then if it’s too firm or too loose, you can make the next batch a little differently. after I removed the screws that were clamping the two pieces together, I was not...

Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

That is probably the first time I’ve ever seen anyone claim a Carlisle tire of any stripe is better than Maxxis.

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

I alternated sides and I did not use PVA or wax or anything on the core.

Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

If it were me, I'd keep running the old tires, making sure you have a couple of cheap spares handy, until the Endurance tires are in stock again. If I was going to shell out the cash for four tires at once, I'd want to be sure I was getting something decent...

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

If using Titebond, you only need to wait 24 hours. It does not off gas.

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

Not an issue with Titebond III. I believe you are thinking of PL Premium construction adhesive.

Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

I have had great luck with Goodyear Endurance tires. I’d wait for them or get Maxxis.

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

This is an excellent idea. You can also mix your resin with just a touch less catalyst to slow down the reaction, too.

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

^This! When I installed mine, I drilled some 3/8" relief holes in the transom core to allow any excess PB to splooge out and to better adhere the transom core (not everyone does this). I also did several dry runs to practice clamping the core to the boat before the clock was running with...
