    Needing higher rpm

Yes, your tach cannot display oil pressure as there isn't any. Water temp will go from dead cold at idle to warmer at cruise, but without a thermostat in the motor to hold a steady temp., it is pretty useless. Now if you could program the oil pressure gauge to read 0-15PSI water pressure, and...

    Needing higher rpm

Most 'toons with std power do not go much faster that 25MPH. You need to check the accuracy of the tach and speedo.

    Replacing Keel rollers

The u-bolts will likely snap when you go to remove them. As long as they are not too thick, breaking them is probably easier than cutting them off. HD Gavanized is a reasonable replacement. Concentrate the paint on the areas that are rusty or look like they are close to rusting. Use a wire...

1985 Mercury 115 tower of power

A 1977 IL6 ignition system will have battery powered CDI with a distributor. There must be +12VDC on the white wire, next to the red wire, at the switchbox. The red wire has voltage all the time, the white, only when the ign switch is on or start.

1985 Mercury 115 tower of power

Those square ports are for idle pressure relief. They allow water to exit the powerhead, when the motor is in the water in neutral. The carb floats are a normal replacement item. The original floats were a yellowish hard foam. These tended to dissolve in today's fuel that contains alcohol...

    Replacing Keel rollers

Well, you can replace 'em now, or when they break when you are pulling the boat. JMO.

    Replacing Keel rollers

The price is criminal, IMO, but they last forever.

    Replacing Keel rollers

I would remove the old rollers, and replace any bolts or ubolts that are pretty rusty. Now wire brush any rust spots, and apply cold galvanizing paint to the entire trailer. Now bolt on the new rollers, with new hardware, install the new carpet and that should extend the life of the trailer...

    1991 DT100 Crankcase Puncture

Look in the lower cowl for bearings, pieces of rod etc. Does the flywheel rotate 360*?

    1979 Starter brkt,2 stroke Evinrude

I am surprised it is even available new. Check e-bay and others like it for a used one. Salvage yards are also a good place to check. Even the web search can turn up a part like that. For example, I needed a replacement swivel rod for my '93 Merc, as the bottom end had rusted away. It was...

    Replacing Keel rollers

Gee, Remove the rollers and wire brush and paint the trailer with cold galvanizing paint. Brushing it is best, if you can find it in a qt can. Spray is easier and more available, but not as good a rustproofing. Also, I will bet some of the ubolts will break when you try to remove them...

How on EARTH do I get this thing off?

That cap has been on there a long time. The threads can corrode pretty solid. A good spanner and a tap of the hammer may be required to break it loose. You might see what a new one costs, in case of trouble.

Threaded holes on port transom bracket.

Some kind of accessory, like power steering would bolt up nicely to the fittings. The parts list shows an accumulator, which seems to be Merc's term for power steering. It has the three bolt holes, that look to match. Thanks.

Threaded holes on port transom bracket.

My 1993 merc 135HPV6 has three threaded holes cast into the port transom bracket. These holes are on half round projections that stick out past the transom bolts. The starboard transom bracket doesn't have these. Anyone know what these are for? I originally thought that it was some sort of...

    Yamaha 12 pin remote

A search on yamaha OB controls on Amazon yields lots of 10 pin controls. There are some 8 pin controls as well, likely w/o PTT. A site like Marineengine may have something. Usually, the controls are under the accessories area. You should consult a wiring diagram to see what functions the...

    Checking power trim sender

My Johnny 150HPV6 had a unused brass plug in the water jacket on the head. I removed the plug and added the pressure fitting. Not sure what your motor has, but there is usually a way to do it. Worse case is to tee into the telltale. On my old inline six Merc, I removed the telltale fitting...

    Eska won’t start.

It will be awkward, but, remove the spark plug, put a timing light on the plug wire and give it a pull and see where she sparks. You could also use a drill to turn the motor over.

OK, is the motor an Optimax? What HP and year?

    Checking power trim sender

If you do not have a water pressure gauge, I would recommend removing the trim gauge and adding one in it's place. It is much more useful than a trim gauge.

    Water in lower unit

The Crowleymarine or marineengine web sites should have that info.
