    This is most likely the issue You had points so the shift interrupter connected a ground to the coil to make the motor stumble. EST needs 12V at the interrupter to do the same thing So you need to remove the ground and connect 12V to switch

    Moved the thread to Johnson OB, hope others can chime in I'm not seeing how your able to kill the motor with no connection to the Magneto contacts, unless your motor is not a 2 cycle

    With plenty of voltage going to solenoid but it doesn't engage, and can't jumper it then I would think the solenoid

    Agree Let's hope that's all it is. Look on top the motor for fuses. With it turning over there is power to key. When key is turned ON do your hear a beep?

    We all know no volts on coil it's going to die I would look closer at the key switch

    Kill switch applies a ground to kill motor The Blk/Yel wires go to the magneto. Note in switch pics that the Off position connects Mag to ground, kill switch does same thing

    Your not going to be able to wake surf with either of the boats. There will be some wake with the 180 but not enough to surf and, THE BIGGY, it would be dangerous to even try with exposed outdrive
