    agree... I am certain I'll find a local shop to do fill-in on the 75hp skeg. the 7.5hp...well I may bite the bullit :-( but i'll ask the local weld shop before hand just in case they can built it up i'll let you guys in on the conclusion this winter thanks

    my 75hp ETEC has about 1 to 1.5 of skeg missing at the tip of the skeg. it had previously been repaired but the small section broke off. it is nothing major really bu it irks me looking at a broken skeg tip. my local shop want 375$ + 15% taxes to repair it and a small 7.5Merc skeg...

    are you collecting books or need a book to run the motor..? visit AOMCI ask a member somebody can probably give you a link to service your oldy you can get a copy of a 400 page + bible for Johnson and Evinrude ...they are cousins anyway...

    if you did not mess with the drive shaft it would be a real Murphy day to have caused an issue in the gears ... why not just close it all up and test with the shift rod in place

    Issue with air coming out of water intake.

    I think you need the drop the GC and perform a colonosscopy up the exhaust housing make certain the housing seals against the GC exhaust vaity ...try a sealant when reinstalling the GC.

    air or exhaust finding they way out the water intakes ? pull the prop maybe normal exhaust flow outwards is blocked ? is this a new sudden problem.... is this a new to you engine ...

    Winterize evinrude 50

    if you have a small drain hole on the side of the GC make certain it is open...run a pipe cleaner or piece of small wire to poke out any crud and let the water drain out.
