    Trilux 33 on Bravo 3?

I have also used Trilux on Alpha 1 OD in salt water. It works well. Reading the label shows that the OEM wants a good primer and paint coat to protect the aluminum from the Trilux.

    Help with a 1992 Mercury 2 stroke

Max, Your motor has a mechanical fuel pump, in addition to the impeller water pump. Follow the fuel line from where it enters the cowling and before it hits the carbs. Sometimes the fuel pump is built into the carb. Not sure on your motor.

    Type of sealant to use

Gee, I use silicone caulk to seal the cover over the fuel tank. No issues sticking to gelcoat there. I used it to install new scuppers. No leaks there either. It is tough to get off if you want to, though. There are silicone-off products that work a little.

    1988 35hp - Multiple issues

If the seals are gone the penetrating oil can leak into the crankcase. That is what you want. The prognosis for removing the gearcase is not looking good.

    850 merc 73 thunderbolt

Most Merc 150HP Black Max motors have the larger gearcase. There were a small number of V6 motors with the smaller gearcase. Your 850 should have the smaller gearcase. The splines will fit, but the hub will likely rub your gearcase, if it has the larger hub. I also doub't you will be able...

    Air Intake Box

If you see the carb throats thru the holes, they are for fogging the motor. I put a piece of duct tape over them after fogging is complete.

    Help with a 1992 Mercury 2 stroke

Sounds like a dirty carb. If you fill the carb bowl with fuel she should run a minute or so, if the carb is clean.

    First Year Electronic Ignition?

If your CDI unit fails, you need a tow. However, they are real reliable. If the points get out of adjustment due to wear, they can usually be readjusted well enough to get home with a screwdriver. I would not let points scare me away from a motor I liked.

    Ford 302 coil voltage

You might tell us the year of the engine. Most battery/coil/points ignitions from the 80s and older, use 12 VDC for cranking and 8VDC for running to help keep the points from burning.

    Water Kickback After Prop Change

I would think a 19P prop would be pretty close. I ran a 21P prop on my 16 footer with a 1500 Tower. The vast majority of the Towers are longshaft (20"). Your transom needs to match. I doubt you will need a whale tail with that much power. With trim she should cruise at 50MPH, if your...

    Type of sealant to use

Gee, what about clear silicone caulk. It is used on my Anderson windows, and lasts decades or longer. It is less than $10 / tube.

    anyone use fishing line?

I would recommend upholstery thread or carpet thread. Carpet thread is too heavy for my current machine, but it is stronger. Neither will rot quickly, and should last the life of your repair. Both are avail wherever thread is sold (walmart, Joanne's...).

    Simple

On Merc sidebowl carbs, the idle restrictor tube can be cleaned by pulling the brass plug on the upper port side of the carb body. If the main jet plug is also removed, the gum out can possibly flush it out, along with the main jet. the idle mixture screw allows you access to clean the air...

    Boggs down

I could not think of anything that would cause drag in the gearcase only in forward gear. In neutral all gears are turning. In fwd or reverse, all bearings and gears are turning. Nothing normally different about fwd. But why not try a test? Remove all spark plugs. Put her in forward and...

    1988 35hp - Multiple issues

The crankshaft has some seals that are supposed to keep water out (that likely failed) and will keep penetrating oil out as well. You might take a pick and see if you can tear them.

    Boggs down

OK, more obscure issue, I would think. Time for some SWAGs. Observe the shift linkage as you shift into forward. Does the shift arm rub any electricals? Does it pinch off a fuel line, or a vacuum line to the fuel pump?

    Trim position sensor

If you replaced the trim limits and trim senders and it doesn't work, suspect the wiring. Both sender and limit were open to the water, which doesn't help. IMO, the wiring had every chance to be pinched by the outdrive, and needed to pass thru the outdrive hull fitting to reach the dashboard...

    bypass vapor pump assembly

Another thought. I believe the crankcase vacuum/pulse used to drive the VRO pump goes thru a pulse limiter. You might want to replace that with a thru fitting to give more vacuum/pulse to the new fuel pump. I would research the fitting on other motors that use your new fuel pump, and see...

Are you running the same RPM in forward, neutral and reverse, or is RPM in forward higher?

    bypass vapor pump assembly

I agree with Crosbyman. It may work, however, a working vapor pump does provide some pumping action that aids the VRO pump. The question is whether your new straight fuel pump needs that assistance? If I were you, my S-I-L would be out of the will.
