    Need RPM’s on 383MPI 1970 SeaRay 24’ project

I should say that if advance is at 34* and as speed increases, if advance reduces then that's the ECM protecting it self. So watching advance should help do you know if fuel pressure is staying at 43 psi?

You have a bad connection, might be the ground cable Fully charged Bat would read 12.7V Reading less then that could mean a meter issue but the starter so energize going from starter post (red wire) to yel/red (solenoid) no matter what

With 12+V on the yel/red going to solenoid then starter should energize We're missing something, new starter and motor will crank and start is smacked. Pull the plugs and see if there is any water in the cylinders See if you can turn it over using the belts and pulleys after plugs are out

Doing nothing means most likely the 90 amp fuse on the starter is blown of some really bad corrosion. Crossing those terminals would engage the starter even with key off. Measure voltage on red/purple wire on the slave and there should be Bat voltage (you said 12.8) If no voltage then check...

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing The slave relay is on top the motor which the key energizes when turned to start. The relay sends power down to the starter solenoid on top the starter to energize it You can turn key to ON/Run and jump across the top to large terminals...

Welcome Did the motor run fine before now and is this a new issue? Lets start with the basics, need a voltmeter Is this a carb or EFI motor? Motor serial numbers are best Are you getting a click at the starter and nothing else or a click somewhere else like the slave relay?

If you had a scanner attached to the motor it would tell what is happening. It could be something else is happening along with lean but we just don't know right now If O2 sensors are installed this to will provide good data, but without a means to change, it's not a good choice Sending it to...

The 555 doesn't know the AFR, it just has fuel tables Fuel tables are determined by Merc running the motor with AFR probes in the exhaust under various loads. The tables are built in conjunction with MAP, TPS and Air/Water Temps. Ones the tables have been designed, then based on what the...

Agree, running lean My guess is you idled back, and later pulled plugs. Only reason there isn't more white is because of idle time. Your ECM is nost likely saving your motor by retirding timing. Only way to verify is with scanner

Moving the thread so it gets more views. Your questions are not Regal specific In you situation I would not physically disconnect Bat. Switching the Bat switch off is good enough If you run E10 gas then there is no need to add Heet, it's just ethanol Adding Stabil is a good idea Being a...

Guard rail gone slack, sailing cruiser.

Have not messed with them but I would first look at what is causing them to go slack. Did the rails bend or is the deck holding the rails getting soft @tpenfield may have some ideas
