Is my outboard direct fuel injected?

OK, let me go farther. The ME-109 fighter aircraft from WWII had a V12 fuel injected motor. The best the Brits and Americans had were carb engines. A lady in Britain needed to invent a way to help the carbs work in low G turns, dives, inverted flight etc. Luckily she invented an "orafice"...

The Power Trim operates the Choke Solenoid. 1977 Evinrude 85HP

Do you have power trim? If not maybe original choke button broke, and that was the workaround.

    Stand-alone tilt/trim pump

Glen, ARCO used to make an aftermarket replacement motor and top of reservoir assembly. Not sure if they still do, but you might find it on fleabay. I would get the part number as best as you can from ARCO or Merc.

    Boat won’t start

Water in the oil is bad. It means a leak from either the cracked block or the mainifold gasket. Hopefully the manifold gasket. Pull the risers and manifolds and lap them with a piece of sandpaper on a piece of glass. Get some Mercury silver gaskets and rebolt them. Obviously change the...

    Bottom Paint Recommendation

Since you are trailering, you do not need antifouling paint. However, since you have it, you have two choices. Either strip it off completely, or cover it with another antifouling paint. A-F paint is soft, so it cannot be covered with a hard paint. Repainting it with a cheep A-F paint is...

Looking for a light, all around anchor

In sand/mud bottom the fluke anchors work best. The fluke anchors (which I recommend) have a website that recommends sizes/weights for boats. I would recommend you consult them for size.

    Refinishing Plywood Seats

Spar polyurethane is the best for wood exposed to sun and water.

    Fuel pickup problem...

My plastic tank needed to have the vent and pickup switched. The pickup unscrewed, but the vent was pressed into a alum. sleeve. I was able to drill it out and thread the sleeve. I was able to then switch the fittings.

    1988 searay capri

Never heard of a SeaRay Capri. There was a Bayliner Capri of 17 foot though.

    Fuel pickup problem...

OK, plastic tanks sometimes do not have threaded fittings. They are welded into the tank.

    Source for new gas tank

Most newer boats (1995+) come with plastic tanks. I would go that way. Moeller is one brand with a large selection of tanks. Simply find one that fits the existing space. The internet will give a competitive price.

    Why is my carb oxidizing????

Aren't carb bodies aluminum? Everyone I ever had was. The only time I have seen that much corrosion on aluminum was from the dry chemical of a fire extinguisher. I doubt even salt water alone would corrode it that much.

Theoretical question about yellow stator wires

Stators usually do not blow the rectifier. Loose connections do. Make sure the + and - wires are solidly connected and make good contact. If the bullet connectors look suspect, replace them.

    Fuel pickup problem...

Might be simpler to replace the fuel tank. It sounds like yours is steel. Those have not been used since the 70's

Fitting to convert 2" fuel tank screw cap to 2" filler hose?

That 12 Gal tank is likely not rated to be installed inside a compartment. It would need a permanent vent fitting to a thru-hull vent. Has it got one?

    Why is my carb oxidizing????

Actually it looks like someone stole your carb and replaced it with a carb that was sitting out in the weather for 2 decades. Even leaving the carb outside for a year wouldn't do that. It has to be electrical. Some carbs have electric choke components. Do you have that feature?

Theoretical question about yellow stator wires

Rectifiers either blow or they don't. They can easily be checked with an analog ohmmeter. Some digital ohmmeters have a way to use them to check rectifiers, but you should look that procedure up, if you don't know it. Rectifiers used in OB charging systems are 4 diode bridges. With a meter...

    Anchor line/rode size

Clearly you have never heard of the old salt who kept reminding everyone that the water between the piers is called the "dock". He was correct, but very lonely.

Prepping aluminum boat for salt water slip

Some (if not all) aluminum safe antifouling paint require a serious primer to insulate the A-F paint from the hull. Not sure your Rustolium is up to it. Even 1 part marine polyurethane paint will peel on a boat hull kept in the water.
