1973 Sea Ray 190 Fuel Tank Location

A marine fuel tank will have a fuel fill opening(1-1/2"), a vent opening (~5/8") and a fuel withdrawal fitting (~3/8"), or two. It usually has a fuel level sender, and some sort of label or tag telling that is is a marine fuel tank and it's capacity. If your tank doesn't match that...

    Thundercraft Inverter

Inverters usually convert 12VDC battery power to 115VAC power. Your shore power is likely 115VAC, and the battery charger converts it to 12VDC. I do not expect the inverter to be in that circuit.

Power trim -goes up fine; trim motor runs but doesn't go down

What kind of motor? What year? Older Mercs sometimes have the manual tilt lock jam. I presume you do not have that?

Replacing an old outboard on a 1964 MFG Niagara Custom

The changes needed to electrical and mechanical controls depend on what motor you plan to install. What kind of controls do you have now? 2 lever mechanical control box and ign key on the dashboard? I presume your steering is cable and drum? Newer OBs could be connected to the cable and drum...

1973 Sea Ray 190 Fuel Tank Location

I did not think you could still get a steel fuel tank. It would have likely been OEM for that boat. However, most tanks were aluminum on the 80's and plastic in the 90's and today. You might make sure the fuel tank is marine-rated.

1973 Sea Ray 190 Fuel Tank Location

Not sure about that exact model, however, most boats of that size had the fuel tank under the deck, just in front of the engine. See where the fuel fill is, as the tank is nearby.

    89’ OMC 4.3L Winterize Question

Gee, I bought 4 Gallons of automotive A-F and poured it in after draining the block and manifolds and left it over the winter. In the spring, I drained and saved it for the following winter.

    89’ OMC 4.3L Winterize Question

The best way is to pour the A-F into each of the hoses and watch for it to push the water out. You do not need to run the motor, with this method. I used to then reinstall the drain plugs and fill the block with straight A-F.

    Fast Strike 150 GLERV hoses

Not sure what year your motor is, but for my '98 Johnny 150EXECD, Page 2-52 (the last page of the fuel system has a diagram) of the recirculation system. The upper and lower bearings are connected to the vapor pump. The hose from the vapor pump directly connects to the lower main bearing...

Mercury 150 Black Max ~1992 year model

The RPM is not limited if the motor overheats. Usually those motors have a temp sender for a gauge on one head and an overheat sensor on the other head. The overheat sensor will ground when the motor overheats, sounding the alarm. I would turn the key on and jumper both to ground and see...

    07' Optimax 150 alarm issues

An owners manual or service manual will describe the different alarms to you. Mercury intended for you to have that info. I am not sure that premixing gasoline and oil on an Optimax is an option. You should check on that. Optimax's have a 7 port oil pump. One port for pumping oil to each...

2000 Proline 195 sport with 2000 merc 125 fuel tank question

The fuel sender usually uses black (ground) and pink for the sender wire. Do not connect +12VDC to the sender. Not sure what the green wire is. Green is usually trim down.

    MAX HP

You will want two fuel tanks, plus the ability (fuel valves and piping) to run 2 motors from either tank. You will want 2 sets of batteries, and the ability (batt switches and wiring) to start/run either motor or both from any battery set.

Does my engine have a problem? Or is this normal behavior?

If it is a premix motor, the fuel mixture will get "oily" after some time in the tank. This will cause smoke and can cause some fouling of the spark plugs. Other than that, it sounds like it is out of tune. When were the carbs cleaned and adjusted? When were the spark plugs replaced...

    MAX HP

Your boat will likely be slower with the two motors.

Mercury 150 Black Max ~1992 year model

Yes, The Poppit opens at a certain water pressure (about 2000RPM), causing most cooling water to bypass the thermostats. Thermostats must open for you to have a telltale, on that motor. Underway you should always have a telltale. if she doesn't overheat the poppit is likely fine. if you...

Merc runs on one tank and starves out at idle on the other tank

The antisiphon valve could fail to open at low RPMs, but that would indicate a weak fuel pump. You can remove the A-S valve for testing.

Mercury 150 Black Max ~1992 year model

It is likely 2:;1. Easy to tell, simply turn the flywheel 2 complete turns and see what the prop does. Replace the waterpump impeller, wearplate and 2 gaskets. Replace the pump cover if it has a scratch. Replace gear oil and check spark plugs for wear. it should have gapless sparkplugs. It...

    Pontoon Dolphin fin or not??

I do not know a lot about 'toons, but they do not really plane. A Dolphin will really hurt, IMO. What is your issue with the boat.?
