    I have fixed up several and I can't say any generated real hot blue .5 inch sparks... that said for 50-60 year old engines remove the mag plate to properly "screw in" the plug wires on the coils replace the coil wires anyway with 7mm metallic core wires. I use automotive Belden wires...

    WELL... the 15 is a good engine and lots of folks bring them back alive. 2 coils are likely shot (cracked) they are 15$ each the rest maybe just a good clean of the points set at .020 Condensers may be bad also...

    well I think you have the answer .. it is leaking the question now is ... did the shaft wear down the seal or did the seal just wear down. In any event you have 2 options repair or change oil a few times in the boating seasons make certain the oil screw nylon washers are new...

    step one... open clean/shine redo any connections associated with power distribution to the trim motor. the cleaner the junctions the more amps will flow to the motor and back via the ground. voltage without amps = no much going down below if you trim motor is relay...
