1985 BlackMax 200 Mercury outboard 2 stroke engine serial number????

Wiring diagrams are easy. Check the stickies in the Mercury OB forum or the maxrules website. Look for a silver disc, like a freeze plug on the top rear of the block. It should have a serial number.

97 mercury force 90hp flooded with 2stroke oil

A 30 gal tank would be hard to mix properly, if you add all the oil first. I would add some oil, then some gas, then some oil... say 1 pint oil and six gallons of gasoline, then 1 pint oil, six gal gasoline.... At this point, I would expect your current fuel to be well mixed......

    ‘89 150 gear set replacement?

Does SEI offer a replacement gearcase? A whole new gearcase usually costs just a bit more than a set of gears.

    1999 Mercury 125Elpto gearing problem

That behavior would imply that the motor is always in forward. As Racer says, it sounds like the upper and lower shift rods were not synched properly.

    Am I crazy

Pontoon, right? Haven't I seen a sort of "Dodger" in front of the motor on those 'toons? A dodger, if built correctly will lessen the noise considerably.

Help: carpet adhesives that are compatible with epoxy

Epoxy is inert after it is cured. I would expect most any outdoor carpet adhesive to be compatible. I have used store brand latex outdoor carpet adhesive to bond carpet to poly resin. Heck, I never even sanded it.

    SystemCheck with non-genuine gauge problem

Faria and a couple of other gauge manufacturers make System Check tachometers, for OMC products. These have the 4 lights on them. They accept the 8 pin connector. I am not sure if the system check alarm wires for all but overheat work the same way as other gauges. Good luck with your problem.

    1976 850 runs on upper 2 cylinders

There should be a small diameter hose from the lower main bearing to the upper main bearing. You should install it if it is missing. I doubt that is your issue though. You might check the lower cylinders for water infiltration. You should see beads of water on a rag when cranking it with the...

    84 Merc 115 I6 rectifier

That Mercury rectifier is simply a full wave bridge. You can save yourself 90% of the cost of an OEM one and get a better part from an electrical supply place. Radio Shack used to carry them, but alas. Pick out a 15A full wave bridge rectifier, and make sure to ground the -DC post to the...

    '95 Johnson 175 Replacements

e-TECs are 2 cycle motors. There seems to be a trend away from the V6 motors to the inline 4 motors. I see lots of Yamaha 150HO il4 engines, recently. I would like to think that they are lighter than V6s, but have never looked it up.

Gee, I saw a boat with a pair of inline 4 175HP E-Tec motors. Looked pretty snappy to me.

    max Horsepower rating

Wes, I think you are wrong about how OEMs set max HP ratings. IMO, they set them based on the hull design, the strength of the boat and transom, and most importantly for a margin of safety, so they do not get sued, if you crash the boat. A lot of boat/motor combos are set to perform with a max...

    Mercruiseer Prop Hub removal

If you can figure out the brand of prop #2, you can look up the hub for your outdrive, on their web site. You might verify that the prop is made for your motor as well. A prop model number can probaly tell you which brand it is. Common prop makers are Quicksilver, Michigan Wheel, Solas...

    Mercury/Mariner Blocks Interchangeable?

You realize that Mariner and Mercury are made by the same company, right? The difference between same year and type 150HP Merc and 150HP Mariner, is the color of the paint and the decals on the motor. However, the Optimax is a different type of motor than the EFI Mariner. Optimax is a Direct...

    Mercury/Mariner Blocks Interchangeable?

The gearcases are very likely the same, provided both motors have the same shaft length. Isn't that what you want? It is a lot easier to swap gearcases than blocks. Put a new waterpump in the new gearcase, before you install it. You need to check the spines on the end of the crankshaft...

Wiring Gauges for 99 Evinrude e-tec

What specific gauges are you installing? Voltmeter and gas gauge will swap. The tachometer (if relatively new) should swap, with a setting change on the gauge. If you want to use the "System Check" feature of the e-TEC, you will need a new tachometer, with that feature. The horn version of...

    Where's manual tilt?

No picture necessary. Follow the hydraulic hoses to the pump/reservoir in the boat. On the very bottom of the pump is a knurled metal knob, about the size of a quart bottle cap. That is the manual release. If the motor was trimmed up, it will not go down, when you turn the release knob...
