    2002 Chaparral 286 SSI

Actually on a boat, you want simple. Fred Flintstone fix with a wooden club simple......A carb not only is cheaper than EFI, it's easier to repair and parts are available (unlike many 20 year old TBI or EFI motors). And no, EFI does not have better economy or power A +1 on not changing the prop

I'm glad my drive has a drive plate vs a coupler.....lol A good flashlight will tell you the health of the coupler. If you see rubber bits and it looks like the center sleeve is being pushed out a sphincter....the coupler needs replacement

    2002 Chaparral 286 SSI

in 2002 you can have a carbureted motor or TBI injection on the 5.0 you will want the manuals for your motor, induction system, and drive https://www.volvopenta.com/en-us/service-and-support/your-engine/manuals-and-handbooks/ a 20 year old boat with only 180 hours means that the boat sat for...

    Dog gps trackers

check the hunting group forums. something like the duck guys or coon hunters. I would not trust many of the reviews on Amazon. most are looking for dogs escaping their home (urban environments), not out wandering the woods. here is a list from PC magazine...

your fine with the power assuming you dont mash the throttle for a holeshot and most importantly, run a rev limiter to kill the engine should you launch from one wave to the next. that instant loading of the drive as you come onto the second wave will grenade the drive. coupler should be good...

    Evinrude Paint

agree with matching in person I have painted many motors, including johny-rudes. just never painted them the stock colors. my favorite is still House of Kolor NE508 "Chartreuse / Nitro Neon Yellow" color https://www.kolorhouse.com/hoc-ne508-q01.html data sheet...

Glastron vs FourWinns with the consolidated plant

usually construction methods are commonized when they migrate brands under one roof. wouldnt make sense to vacuum infuse one mold, then put all the equipment away to drag out other equipment to chopper gun the next boat. what you will find..... brand A gets stainless deck hardware ($1000)...

if the coupler is bad it is usually from not checking alignment every year you do pull the drive every year to check alignment and u-joints per the manual, correct? common things that lead to the drive being out of alignment: rear mount bushings fail and motor sags transom is rotten and motor...

    Charging Voltage, '97 Suburban

the clamp-on cable terminals are junk. only way to clean a cable that is corroded between the strands is to replace it. get a set of properly made cables with properly terminated ends. I usually make my own using marine battery cables (tinned copper)

Mercruiser 4.3LH backfiring & weird timing

agree on compression numbers generally if the timing appears to have moved that much, usually the outer ring of the damper is no longer bonded. use a cylinder stop and degree wheel to indicate TDC. if the damper ring has shifted, get a new damper.

Glastron vs FourWinns with the consolidated plant

    VP 280 no reverse

looking at the pic, link #3 isnt connected. it looks like its there in the corrosion crud, however not connected.

    VP 280 no reverse

check link #3. could be the reverse lock is tripped which would indicate you hit something.

    VP 280 no reverse

reverse lock assembly. you will most likely need to put the boat on the hard and pull the drive to repair

Bad engine coupler or spun prop hub?

simply draw a line with a sharpie across the prop and prop nut. if the line moves, its the prop yes, if the coupler fails, there is no propulsion

How do I fill the intermediate housing?
