    A is a blind hole, no worries B might be the water jacket, but may be another test port for oil. I would remove the plug below it (oil pressure port) and use that plug and install in B Can find out if its oil before firing up. Your going to use a drill to pre oil the bearings before starting...

    The impeller is toast. Running it in a bucket the impeller was able to move some water but not enough. It started to burn because seeing the 180 temp. Shutting it down before it got hotter kept from blowing the head gasket.

    The issue is electrical. Motor cuts out and back on wouldn't be fuel. Being electrical it can be a bad connection ground or hot side, key switch and pretty much anywhere there may be corrosion. There have been a lot of trouble with the 2 wire modules and this is why Merc changed it. No one...

    Unless VP recommends Premium fuel, all it will do is reduce the HP slightly. Unless your fuel is real old I don't see it being that right now.
