    On a fresh water motor you bend one tab on the lock washer then remove the big nut.----Slide hammer and a hook to pull carrier out.

    Somebody did not like the plastic bowls or had no idea how an electric primer works.----Or wanted a bigger bore carburetor for the 90 HP-----This led them to install these type II carburetors.----Should be easy to find a set of type III as they are all over E-bay.

    The parts picture shows a crburetor with choke plates.-----Those were last used in 1979.-----They may have been installed due to issues with plastic bowls warping.-----Have to run out and do some work in the garden.----A better return for my time.

    What manual are you using ??-----Post a picture of your manual !-----I say that the carburetors with the black plastic bowls are correct for your motor.-----End of the story.

    93 evinrude 40hp runs on one cylinder

    The electric primer valve puts fuel directly into the engine.-----This fuel bypasses the metering circuits in the carburetors.---Need to clean both carburetors.------So find the issue and correct it before running the motor again.

    ??----But you have to remove the bowl to find / service the idle jet.------I must have 30 or 40 of these carburetors laying around.----So yes I am quite familiar with these things.-----First thing I would do is a compression test post your numbers here !!----That picture above has choke plates...

    While working on this wonderful 20 HP 2 stroke you could bump it up to 30 HP with small investment in parts.----Then of course if you have the beer tokens to buy a new 4 stroke , you do not have any issues.

    These pumps are good and reliable.------No demand for them.-----So no aftermarket.-----I will keep quiet from now on for you.

    These pumps all work the same way.-----PRESSURE pulses from the crankcase.-----There are many Johnson / Evinrude pump that can be fitted to work.

    I would refresh / rebuild the 20 HP.-----Set it up properly and use a good oil.

    The XP 100 was a 115 HP marketed as a 100 HP with " extra performance " i believe.----- It is all about marketing / decals.

    The motor was likely built by Johnson / Evinrude.----Post a picture here.----Most boat shops will help you.------There looks to be an issue finding the correct part # on web sites.
