    Factory has them-----Many failures.----Lots of demand.----After market has several suppliers as well.-----Easy fix if you do the work yourself.-----I suggest pulling lower unit apart for inspection and seal kit.

    Broken piston rings on one cylinder ----Will happen to every one of these crossflow V-4 motors.-----One cylinder shows overheating / pre-ignition.-----Motor needs 4 new O/S pistons.

    With a dremel tool , you can put these grooves in.----Does not need to be very precise.-----If you understand how oil " works " in a bearing / bushing then you would put these grooves in !

    In my opinion the VRO pumps are very simple.----Easy to inspect / repair.-----I would never buy a new fuel pump !

    Those grooves are found on well designed bushings.

    Deformed water pump housing, sign of overheat?

    There are still some folks who fire up outboards without water to the pump.-----They quickly heat up the liner and damage the housing.-----Replace this housing as it is cheap.

    Remove the flywheel.----Inspect coils.----Clean and set breaker points.

    Simple , easy job.----Powerhead does not need to be removed.----Procedure to follow when model # is posted.----Or is this / was this a tiller model ?-----Or remote from factory ?
