Mercury 110 (1971?) - common repair items on this engine?

you have a 52 year old motor that was designed to be around for 15 - 20 years. impellers are a common issue. there are two diameters of shaft (and two different impeller part numbers). so you need to know which diameter prior to buying. the pre 1978 motors have steel shafts (not stainless)...

    overheat mercruiser

You are burning up your impeller with your process and you are risking freeze damage The factory manual clearly states Change oil/filter Drain all water (pull plugs and hoses). Then if you want to add anti-freeze, use a funnel and fill from the thermostat housing

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

Your exhaust manifold rust will plug the heat exchanger. The block will be good

    overheat mercruiser

No. Your raw water pump moves 20 GPM at 20 PSI. There isnt an electric wash down pump large enough What are you doing that is burning your impeller? Are you trying to suck from a bucket or something else? Always use muffs unless the bucket is big enough the whole boat sits in it and the...

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

Your exhaust manifold looks crusty. You would want to run a new one when running a heat exchanger. Did your motor get boiled out?

Radon and seal concrete under tub

The soupy mix is what the PVC pipe is for. May need an elbow

Radon and seal concrete under tub

Not sure I would do expanding foam. You would hear a pop and find your tub a foot higher

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

There are water pumps with a 1" port on the inlet almond side the 1-3/4" port

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

Is your lower thermostat housing aluminum or cast iron? I would pick up an aluminum one and weld on a 1" diameter section of tube as a hose bung

Radon and seal concrete under tub

How big is the access? Any way to mix up concrete and use a combination of PVC pipe and a small hoe to fill most, then maybe use epoxy as a cap.

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

Got a picture? Have dimensions? You will need about 2 quarts of expansion volume

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

Looks like a 2-pass It would be fine for a half system Would have to run calculations to see if it will cool a full system Will sketch two schematics Do you have an expansion/overflow/de-areation tank?

Radon and seal concrete under tub

Should be ok. Thinking you will need two pours. First will filter down into gravel a bit. Second should be able to seal any gaps left over

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

Need to know specifically the length of the bundle, the number of tubes in the bundle and the number of passes. It may not be an engine heat exchanger

292 inline 6 with prealpha drive for 19.5 cuddy

Which heat exchanger are you using? Is it sized for full-system? Before you buy parts, you need to have a schematic. That will determine which thermostat housing and how it's plumbed. A full system requires constant flow to exhaust manifold and back thru HX and then to water pump, and the...
