    I think that hole was put in at the factory.------It may well be for the speedometer pressure.----No need tp plug it.-----You need to pressure test the gearcase to find the actual leak point !!!

    When you replace the key the timing will be correct again.-----Lap the tapers with some valve grinding compound.----Torque the nut.

    Water sizzling on the head means it is too hot.-----Have you had the flywheel off to inspect the ignition coils ?-----Compression test done ?----A blown head gasket is one possible cause of overheating.

    I believe that is a Tecumseh engine and any small engine shop might have reed for it.----If I needed reeds I would likely modify some from any one of many motors that use reed valves.

    4hp Deluxe needs OMC Premium lower unit lube … substitutes ?

    That gearcase is the same as used on the 8 HP model.-----Outboard gear oil from Canadian Tire works just fine.-----Just keep water out of that gearcase.-----The propshaft bearing carrier has been NLA for many years and is the first part to break with pressure build up from freezing !

    Model # of this motor ?-----Some of these 4 HP models use a gear housing that was first used on the 1968 model 1-1/2 HP .----Updated with some needle bearings.----Keep water out and use a good oil.

    Went to pay for my furnace oil yesterday.-----I then asked the young man if he could pump clear diesel into my truck ,he said yes at $1.68 a liter.------I said fill it up as my regular outlet is $1.89 a liter.

    The 93 and up Johnson would be my choice.----Prop rated and smoother running ( different intake ports ) on them.-----Too much plastic on them.------I think the 1984 OMC are the best and parts donor motors can be found easily.

    Seems to run out of fuel

    Sorry , can not see your motor..-----Is it the VRO replacement or the simple $100 ( 3 nipple ) pump ?-----Was the pulse limiter removed if it is the simple pump.?----No need to push the key in a couple of times before cranking.----Push key in and hold it in while cranking !

    98 Johnson 90hp tilt and trim not working

    ??----It uses the same relays for the cowling switch and the switch on the control box.-----Look the wires over carefully.
