    suggest you buy a new boot remove the drive and do a drive service with the drive off, remove the old boot and inspect the transom if the transom is good, replace the boot re-install the drive go to www.sterndrive.info for videos on removing the drive be very very very carefull with the shift...

    No, air pockets not normal. You are sucking air somewhere

    Easiest to pull whole drive, however you can weld in place if you want you do pull the drive every year for maintenance, correct? you will need a seal kit

    Head gaskets, core plugs, water pump will need to be changed You could go to a better cam, or switch to 1.6:1 rockers. The cam in there is a bit mild, even for a boat

    good luck, I tried pertronix twice and went back to points when they failed. a few others on this site had same issue.

    at 6000 foot elevation, you are down almost 20% on motor power (3% per 1000' of elevation) if you were always at 6000 feet. that is one thing.
