    Low Oil Pressure

You should be using 20w-50, or at least 15w-40 There are 3 spots on the block to take oil pressure. My suggestion is use the one on the back of the block

Engine stalls when put in gearMy boat is a 1979 27 ft Carver Monterey Mercruiser 228 305 4barrel - Alpha Drive The engine stalls when shifting gear

you are going to blow up your drive. replace your lower shift cable, adjust the cable correctly and get the RPM's down to below 650 in the water my guess is your thermostat and housing has an issue

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL-B does not go properly

do not stick anything metal in the passages other than maybe a piece of soft copper wire. the bowl, metering plate and throttle body are made of zinc and easily damaged. do not use simple green cleaner or bleach for the same reason.

Boat won't go over 3000 RPM no mater what prop I use

@achris if the ECM doesnt know its in gear, i believe the ECU limits the RPM to 3000. Am i correct? I believe this is why you stated look at the in-gear switch

butyl tape will make a seal, even if it doesnt stick to the nautolex. the top layer of the nautolex is designed so not much sticks to it.

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

your motor has a 55psi oil pump pressure relief. if you run a good 20W50 oil and the motor was cold, your oil pressure will be a bit higher. 60 psi is not a problem

    Engine swap, OMC to mercruiser

the stringer drives were the OMC drives available from the 60's to 1985. they used a machined splined "button" about the size of a large hockey puck that bolted to the crank. the intermediate housing was the gear box assembly that bolted directly to the flywheel housing flange on the engine...

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL-B does not go properly

go thru your carb and rebuild it. by your description in post #1, it sat for a while. the fuel that was in there, has now turned to sludge from sitting and gummed up the circuits. its a holley 500 CFM 2300 2-barrel. to do a proper rebuild should take someone experienced about an hour total...

    Sx outdrive water pump

the thermostat is held in place by a sleeve. with the amount of rust you have there, you may want to look for a new one. I would get some oxalic acid (available on amazon) and soak the thermostat housing in it for about a week to dissolve the rust. I would also suggest you pull your exhaust...
