    The cowling tells me it is a 70 model.----These motors are just super in my opinion.-----First thing I do on these is remove the flywheel.-----Sometimes both coils are cracked.----Often there is a new set in there.

    Primer bulb has to go hard !----If it does not there is a leak somewhere.

    I believe one switch box fires 1 , 3 , 5 cylinders.----The other fires 2, 4 , 6 cylinders.

    I think the factory reed valves are very good.-----Rarely cause any issues.------No idea why some folks want to install anything else on a 35 HP motor !!

    It is all the same.-------Just need to adjust the throttle and shift cable.----Do a compression test on the XP 100 before installing it !

    Perhaps you are not aware that forces at work push the shaft UP when the motor is working.----Yes there is a factory tool ( I have it ) to properly shim these gears.----Nothing to it when you know how it all works.

    Don't worry about the rust.----Yes I have a few of these I got on exchange.----Waiting for time and more of them to come up with the repair method.----I have a plan on how to do it.

    Why are you replacing parts hoping to be the blind squirrel who will find a nut ??----Test run with another fuel tank and hose, borrow a set-up.-----Does the tell tale hose come of the side of the block or the top ?----Have you replaced the water pump along with the latest repair kit ?

    Leaking fuel pump ?------Cold cylinder due to poor compression in crankcase and or poor compression in the cylinder.

    There is a seal that runs on the shaft there !!-----What happens to the ---" rumbling " ---When you pull up on the driveshaft while turning it ?

    If the motor takes off and runs properly for 8 seconds there is NOT a problem with an air leak on the intake side !!-----Do some simple trouble shooting here.

    No comment on compression numbers for that motor.-----Very easy and better to remove bypass covers to inspect pistons and rings.----Just too much argument about compression on older motors.

    Hook up a timing light to # 1 cylinder.----Take boat for spin on the river.-----Observe the flashing light.------Repeat test with other 3 cylinders.----Post what you see.------If spark is good on all 4 then likely not a spark problem.-----Could be a bad plug wire / boot shorting to the cowling...
