saw grass alcohol has a higher BTU content than corn alcohol, and cane sugar alcohol is higher yet. however the subsidies are what they are..... fuel cells dont like freezing temps.

Help with dent 1988 tracker 170V

pour in foam is your choice however from the inside, I would pop it out, then with a big deadblow hammer, dent it outward a bit to stretch the metal in the outward direction prior to foaming.

Best Method for loosening stuck bolts.

no way to get enough heat with a heat gun. the best heat guns in the industry will get the surface temp to maybe 400 F. you want that bolt to about 700-900F

1997 Maxum 5.7L Mercruiser need carburator

most hydro locks come from improper timing and the motor diesels on shut-off to properly clean a carb, you need to take it apart, go thru it and clean all the passages on the inside, then assemble and adjust it properly. there are only a few moving parts.

Overhauling my 1988 MerCruiser 4.3 ltr. engine

A used running motor would be cheaper. Attempting to use a used rotating assembly is a fools errand. The crank and rods can be conditioned, however that usually costs more than new rods and crank. the pistons and rings are a one-time use thing as the block would need to be bored and honed...

    76 enterprise 165 mercruiser.

you can take anything out into the ocean on a calm day. I would not take a tri-hull out anywhere ever if there is any chance of more than a 6" chop simply because they ride like carp. however when the winds pick up and the waves grow to 3' or more, I would want a much bigger boat.

Overhauling my 1988 MerCruiser 4.3 ltr. engine

hydrolock will bend a con rod and blow a head gasket long before a crank goes. cranks go from imbalance, either a dead cylinder or a bad damper. the reversing loads that result are what takes out the crank. normally there will be beach marks on the crack. once it starts, its only a few...

Overhauling my 1988 MerCruiser 4.3 ltr. engine

agreed, a broken crank is a rarity common for a dead spark plug on a balance shaft motor and not know it, especially if you dont push it often. since the exterior of the motor is rusty, rust is the #1 cause of the damper rubber to come debonded from the weight ring.

    Sealing pink insulation foam?

no way to seal it from solvents. you will end up chipping or damaging the coating by simply picking up the foam, so you may as well not even try.

Best Method for loosening stuck bolts.

50%/50% mix of acetone and ATF is my go-to penetrating oil. however as racer indicated, sealing the bolts prior to corrosion is best. I use permatex #3

Ebbtide Riviera Project - how to access floor in bow compartment?

Here is the pic of me removing the cap on the Avanti. the most dificult thing was going along with a linoleum knife to cut the sealant between the hull and cap.
