one wire on the + side of the coil goes to the R terminal. this is the source for voltage ONLY during cranking. this is the tan wire called out on the schematic the other wire on the + side of the coil is connected to the resistance wire in the harness, and goes back to the key switch. this...

    Question: Sealing underneath sub-floors

Swapping out 3.0 for 4.3 mercruiser.

bayliner did side mount 3.0's at the same spacing / location as 4.3's so they could drop in either a 4.3 or a 3.0 into the same boats.

My serpentine belt tensioner doesn't seem to work right

By the way, the instructions shown are wrong, it says to turn counterclockwise and should read clockwise. note the location of the spring arm pivot to the idler bearing center, it can only turn clockwise to release

My serpentine belt tensioner doesn't seem to work right

you are turning the bolt the wrong way you turned counterclockwise vs clockwise, all you did was remove the bolt holding the idler on the spring loaded arm. do not run like that, it will walk that idler off its post and fling it at your head. now put the bolt back in and turn clockwise, and...

    5.7L 350 - 2003 - MAP/ MPI Horizon - Water Distribution Housing ISSUE

put a 60 watt incandescent trouble light in the bilge, it will keep the temp in the bilge above freezing. then remove that whole air-pump contraption BS that mercruiser puts on their overly complex motor plumbing. you will find that the hoses going to the lower block drains are probably...

No spark plug spark... 170 MC , 1985 Sea Ray

yep, that is it. follow the wire from the R terminal (R is for relay, sometimes its call I for ignition) that is your feed to the coil + for cranking. now, start at the coil + on the motor, follow that wire to your starter and fix what is broken/not tight/corroded

Swapping out 3.0 for 4.3 mercruiser.

Why would you want to? First, it would be a nightmare to align Second, it wouldnt handle the torque

    Which Motor To Use

if you want fuel economy, get a much newer motor..... like a newer 4-stroke. other than the ignition your 135hp and 140hp motors are essentially the same. both thirsty in-line 6-banger outboards

1996 Volvo Penta 7.4 will not stay running

A test port fitting and a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. If you are reading 7-8 psi, it will open the needle and seat and flood your carb However after cranking, if your fuel pressure drops, its either electrical or you may have a restriction in the line or your new pump may not be good
