Water keeps filling boat cover, please help!

Yes, one of the hassles. Keeping the water shedding, as mentioned is obviously key. I've got the front part of my convertible top up (just over the main front seats, essentially), and a "Heavy Duty" (WM) tarp over the boat, either bungeed to the trailer or staked out at the corners. That's...

Just a fun day at the range, I hadn’t been in a few years. I’ll never make that mistake again.

The more you bring, the more you gotta clean (or neglect) afterward. I hardly ever go anymore. If I was retired I might find the time/energy again.

    More Clutch Hydraulics Fun!

I just had to do the master cylinder on the Acura, for the 2nd time since I got it (2020). The first one I put on lasted about 3 1/2 years. I looked into getting a Honda part this time (instead of chain parts store), but it was like 5x the price. I've got the clutch adjusted better this time...

    water pressure vs air pressure

That's a good idea. Mine was somewhat clogged when I changed the blower assembly last summer. It's right by the water heater, which I've been meaning to drain for a few years now...

    Co-owning a boat?

As Dave Ramsey used to say, "The only ship that doesn't sail is a partnership". He meant business of course, but you could apply that here too. I actually had the co-owner thought when I bought mine, and might've even asked my brother if he was interested in going in on it. Prob wouldn't have...

Clutch Fan to Electric Conversion, 1997 Suburban

No, I didn't; thought about it, but it's so stiff all the way around, it seems Ok yet. It should be an easy job though, if it comes to that; I put some anti-sieze on the pump threads where the fan attaches.

Clutch Fan to Electric Conversion, 1997 Suburban

Just did the water pump on this. First time I've seen the fan screwed onto the pump, and couldn't get it off until I sprung for a cheap air hammer (to batter the big nut on the side of the face(s) that would tend to loosen it...). The big crescent wrench and small sledge hammer method didn't...

    Clutch Hydraulics, 1989 GMC C1500

Took another crack at it yesterday, using this procedure. I was opening the bleeder after the pedal was on the floor before I think. So far so good...

    Tire Recommendation, Japanese Sedan

Sounds very Vermont-y; all that snow... : D We only get it a few times where it's an issue (thankfully), so not really a thing here. I think I'm gonna go with the Uniroyal Power Paw All-Seasons when these Yokohamas are just a little further gone. Don't think I've ever had a set of Uniroyals...

    Tire Recommendation, Japanese Sedan

Condition of the car is pretty good, imo. It's got significant oil drips (cam and crank seals probably), that could be getting onto the the control arm bushings... Idk. 173k miles, which is not high for these from what I've seen. I got led astray by the local (chain) tire shop with my son's...

    Tire Recommendation, Japanese Sedan

Lol. Yes, I need to rotate mine for the same reason. The worn outer edge is the visual I'm looking for to see when it's time again. I'm probably pretty hard on them. I'm liking these for the cheapies ("least expensive" group): Lexani LXUHP-207 235/45ZR17 97W XL All Season Ultra High...

    Tire Recommendation, Japanese Sedan

My Acura ('05 TL, Manual) is about to need them, and of course there are dozens and dozens of choices. 235/45R17 It has Yokohama S Drive's on it that I've probably put 25,000 on in the last several years (on there when I got it). It's had a pulling to the right problem that I suspect is the...

    Wading prius

We may get it pushed onto us anyway, unfortunately. There are people with too much time on their hands, apparently. I was walking in to work the other day in the rain and wind, and the beloved and much worshipped "Mother Nature" turned my umbrella inside out. I thought I had it pointed...

Well, That's It. Another Season Over

I think there've been several posts on this topic. Looks like it's my turn again, and am going to have to winterize this weekend. I only got to use the boat very little this season, 4 times I think; last one was last Friday. I had a real nice outing, all by myself. Light wind, good temps...

Guessing young adult kids text back rather than call?

I've participated in a number of interviews at my job. One thing I always ask is "What's your preferred comm method?" Too much experience with people who don't or won't read e-mails, IMs. And there is a LOT of important info. IMO, that comes down via those methods.

Guessing young adult kids text back rather than call?

I'll go you one better - you're face to face with someone and they halt the conversation to take a phone call. Any phone call. Lol. The personal electronic device trumps everything. My dad used to do that cr@p. Don't see him all that much, so it's not a big deal. I prefer text/e-mail...

    Clutch Hydraulics, 1989 GMC C1500

He's got a line on a decently priced mechanic; I'm going to let that guy take a look at it if he's interested. I bled it using a combination of pull a vacuum on the bleed screw, push clutch pedal in (assistant), crack bleed screw, close bleed screw, clutch pedal up, and repeat, while keeping...

    Clutch Hydraulics, 1989 GMC C1500

I'm just venting. No, really, yes. Like, I don't know how to fix it. Could be I didn't bleed it right? Could be the master's bad now? Could be the bleeder on the slave/secondary isn't 100% sealed, and is letting air back in? (I opened and closed it about a hundred times trying to get it...

    Clutch Hydraulics, 1989 GMC C1500

Having trouble with it... New master cylinder several years ago. Shop said slave prob not far behind if you have to replace the master. Son had been borrowing it, and it scrapped out several months ago - poor pedal pressure, hard to get out of gear. I had it towed home and eventually got...
