Thanks. Is PB "better" than PL for use in this case?

Thinking more about the decking now. Question regarding securing the decking. All the edges will be tabbed to the hull, transom and open side of the stringers around the engine area. I was planning to use cleats on the stringers to avoid screwing into the stringers. My question is do I... 1)...

Glassed in the boards between motor mount and the stinger a few days ago. The void under the board was filled with foam. Pleased with how it turned out. The whole area will be gel coated.

I was able to foam in the two side pieces adjacent the motor mounts. I made a tent with a blanket to get the temp up. It's a pain to do all the tape/plastic bag prep but the foam is so sticky I can't image trying to get the overflow off without it. I'll fill the edges with PB and cover with 2...

I have a space heater running in the garage but it can only do so much when it's 15-20deg outside. Once the overnight lows go back to above freezing, I can get in the mid 60s with the heater. Fingers crossed... I should be back at it this weekend.

This cold spell has put a halt to my progress for the last 2 weeks. It's only ~52deg in my garage so no glassing.

Ordered and received another 10 gallons of resin this week. Hopefully my math is good and this will be enough for me to finish off the ski locker and the deck.

Finished glassing the rear stringers/bulkhead in place. With all the small compartments, it took a lot longer than I expected with the measuring and cutting the 1708 being the biggest pain. I used 2 overlapping layers including 2 layers in every corner. The original layout had a channel...

I was planning to do 2 coats of unwaxed and a final coat waxed but maybe this is overkill. Are you saying to just go with 1 coat of waxed? Approximately how thick should the coats be? Agree on the mat and I have one from before the restore so good there. I do like the one you linked to...

What kind of roller did you use (type and size)? Any technique suggestions? What are the pros/cons of using a roller vs brush? I'm definitely going to gelcoat the bilge but also thinking about doing the entire deck, then use seadek on top of that.

Been making some good progress but need to catch up on my postings. All the stringers/bulkheads are installed with PL. I wrapped everything with CSM before installing. Everything from the gas tank bulkhead forward is glassed in place. About half the back section is done and plan to finish...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

After dry fitting everything and cutting the tops to match the existing stringer height, I've wrapped all the new stringers in CSM and dry fitted them again. Had to do some sanding/trimming on the cut end of a few of the existing stringers to get a proper fit but everything is falling into...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Got the stringers and bulkheads cut out and fitted. Forgot to double check the length on the ski locker sides after the bulkhead was fitted. They ended up being about 1/2" short. I was able to salvage the longer one by using it in place of the shorter one so only wasted one of them.

Productive day today. Got templates for all my stingers and bulkheads cutout and test fitted. I decided it was going to be near impossible to get the height just right right so I'm making them all a little tall and will cut them to height once they are installed. I'll use the existing stringers...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

I'm going to cut out the stringers and bulkheads this weekend. I'm planning to use foam board to dial in the exact shapes then transfer the shape to the plywood. This is what I did for the transom. Any suggestions/techniques on this would be appreciated.

Returned the next day to wrap the back side of the step ups. I plan to gel coat the entire area once the stringers, bulkheads and floor are installed.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Motor mounts are fully installed and wrapped! I ended up installing the glass in 6 pieces. Each side is broken into 2 pieces to align with the height step up (4 pieces total). Then there are 2 top pieces for the front and back sections. I did it this way to simplify the cloth cutouts and the...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

My engine is currently on a stand very similar to the motor mounts and I can't see anything with restricted access. The oil filter in the back and fuel filter is well above the mounts. Both are easily accessible with the motor installed. I guess I'll find out the hard way if I'm not seeing...
